Im after mobile broadband for my laptop where I can topup say £10 per month, but not have any kind of '30 day expiry'. Im also after really good coverage and enough speed to upload photos to the net and view forums such as oOple.
Ive found this: http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobi...mpatible=false Anyone have any opinions on the above, or able to offer any alternatives?? Thanks

mobile broadband is very dependant on your coverage. the mrs has vodaphone and we are only covered by 2G which is about 56k speeds.
my orange MB is covered by 3G+ which gives 100kb down, but the upload is a bit slow. browsing the web is good and you wouldn't know the difference between it and proper ADSL. but I can't play warcraft due to the varying speeds. check the providers website for coverage in your postcode. I picked up 3G+ in GL1 on friday night. my orange one gives me 500mb a month for £4.89 so pretty limited. it was only to get me through the gap before my land line goes in in a week. |

Its contended bandwidth too, so if you want anything heavy like steaming a landline is always better (assuming you have one)

Best coverage is with Orange. Saying that, imo, they suck. Ive never used one that was quick, or even just average no matter the signal strength.

I've tried 02, Orange and T Mobile. Coverage is very variable, so in some places one works better than the other. Vodafone has the best quality, providing you can get the signal. I gave up in the end, because it didn't matter which one I chose, each had it's own problems - quality, holding signal, coverage - and was generally a pain.
A colleague at work has signed up to 'The Cloud' and finds that very good. It's a WiFi network, not a 3G system. There are subscription plans (6.99/month unlimited) and PAYG plans. More and more hotspots are coming on line, and he says that it works well. Not very helpful if you want it at home, however! HTH
