Default Refs at NE regionals?

What's our situation with regard refs at NE regionals? We seemed to have a good job through the winter but I didn't see any on Sunday.

I didn't have any problems in any qualifiers or finals but some of the finals I saw some well dirty moves that IMHO needed penalties given out, the C or B in particular (I think). I also noted that in those cases, the guilty parties took people out and didn't wait, poor manners that can only be enforced with refs I think.

I don't mind volunteering for a heat and I'm sure there are other people that would/could too,

we have started having ref's at the mid west regionals and it has seamed to help esp in qualifying when you are on a good run. What we do is that most of the F1's volenter to do a heat each.

Yeah.. This year in the Mid-West it was agreed that the F1 drivers would ref.

We each select a heat and then ref the same one each round. Then when it comes to finals, we split them up between us. Obviously the A final doesn't always a ref assigned, although we luckily had "H" this weekend.

This system is working so far with driver standards, although we need to crack down on the "fruity" language that comes from some of the drivers.

Dan / Northy...

I'd volunteer to do a heat... if someone would "shadow" me for a few races maybe to make sure I'm being fair and everything... a crash course in reffing!

I have done it a few times, it isn't easy which is why I have even more respect for our national refs!

If we made this clear at drivers briefing that most of us would be new but I think it's the right thing to do. I'd like to think that just by having refs, people won't try it on but it would help get faster guys through, stop blatant take outs, track cutting and not waiting etc.

I went to the Cov regional earlier this year and saw the F1 reffing in action... Seems a good Idea.... also gives people the chance to put something back into the sport...

I don't mind reffing. I've done it before at regionals.... If each F1 (That wanted to) did one race... that would seem fair..

I think its a good idea.
I also think that, as well as reffing the racing, the marshalls should be kept in touch too. twice on sunday I lost whole laps due to the marshalls watching the racing and not the track in front of them , and when I was marshalling, me and the guy next to me ended up running across the track to marshal cars over the other side of the track, because of the same reason.

Yes I had to shout the marshal, but I didn't use an fruity language. I stopped doing that years ago, its not fair. if its my own fault I will stay silent for a short time until i can see that marshalls aren't looking then I will shout them. but i don't agree with swearing on the rostrum.

I think when I heard some swearing on sunday there was a 'younger' racer on the rostrum too, and it's not the sort of lanuage they should be hearing.

haveing refs is a great idea, they had them at the york indoor regional and steve kirk did a cracking job letting cars know when they were been lapped (not that refs have to do this) and race run very very smoothly ,,, i had marshall problems on sunday i may have been in the bottom final but still feel we are important and deserve the same standard of marshalling because one or two marshalls were strolling back to there points after marshelling a car and blocking my veiw of a tricky spot on the track, i myself get back as quick as i have ran to marshall the car in the first place.

I thought we have\supposed to have ref's at NE regionals..
I know it's not easy to do but usually the clubs hostng the event normally organise it.

yeah i would agree that everything would run so much smoother with refs. a couple of times on sunday i had the problem, even faster drivers didnt stop after clearly taking me out.
i thought the issue with marshalling aswell was awful at NERCR, i saw alot of cars sitting waiting for the marshalls that were watching the race.
