Do you have a Costco near you (and are you a member)?
That's where I got mine from. About £60 at the time. It's one of the basic 2-stroke models that you see in quite a few places under a few different brands (Machine Mart also). I know a few people have had reliability problems with these basic ones but I managed to get a good 'un and it's probably done me a dozen meetings over the last few years. If you want guaranteed quality you are probably looking at a Honda for several hundred pounds! |

After racing touring car Nats id be more inclined to save up and buy one of the 'quiet' genny's.
Ive had 3 of the cheap £60 gennys, bought from Argos and Screw-Fix and all 3 died. They all died around the same time as many of my TC friends who also had bought these for the TC Nats. If you are in this game for the long haul id save up and spend your money on something good, silent that will last ![]()

Look at the kipor suitcase generators. But you you want to run a stove or a kettle they will need to be camping ones and you will need a resinable generator.

Kettles and stoves use a lot of power. Your domestic kettle might be 3000W! Even travel kettles are 650W. Add your charging on to that and you probably need a couple of kW power - that's not cheap either!

Scott the vast majority of people use Kipor gennies, capable of powering the lap top plus charging. Theres always places to get cups of tea, failing that either a thermos or gas camping stove would do the trick and be far cheaper, simples

Yea the kipor range of generators are good ive ive got the ig2000 and its really good highly recomeneded. But the ig1000 will give you everythign you need for normal racing needs.
Also get a gas small camping stove for boilling water and cooking. A

The IG1000 is plenty for running RC, they also have a smooth power output which makes it safe to run delicate electronics. The IG 1000 will run 2 power supplys and a laptop no problem, it also powers are kids sterilizer aswell, but you've got no chance of running a kettle though mate.
