Default Pro Dif rebuilding help

I wonder if any of the Pros can shed light on re-building difs, and maintenance.

I am re-building mine every 6 runs, so would like to make sure I am doing it the correct way. I clean it all out with motor spray. I only clean the thrust race one in three times. I apply a moderate amount of moly lube on the thrust race. I sparingly apply silicone dif lube on both sides of the washer plates of the main part.

I picked up space dif, the Schuie ready built one, and noticed it is packed with silicone on the washers. Tempted to rebuild the thing my self.

Any tips would be great.

OH yes, and this is for the CAT SX. Although I guess helpful for other Shumachers using the same dif.

Cheers

Out of habit I always use AE Stealth diff lube on the diff balls. After cleaning the pulley, I squeeze a small blob into each hole which helps keep the balls captive whilst assembling the diff.

Then, I smear a light coating onto the plates - not too much as otherwise it'll spin out and attract the dirt.

I'm assuming that you're either fitting new plates or lapping them back with a stone to make sure that they're flat and ridge-free?

Black grease in the thrust race like you say but I'll avoid dismantling the thrust race if I can help it ;-)

HTH

PS - Lastly - a tip for cleaning the diff pulleys. It was shown to me by one of the team driver's mechanics (Cheers Mike!) that a good old fashioned pipe cleaner can help clean the holes in the diff pulley that the balls locate into. You can blast most of the dirt away with motor cleaner but I always found that a small bit would always remain - until I learnt to use a pipe cleaner. Cheap as chips but works great.

Default Big thanks

Guys, that is perfect. Thank you for the tips. I was kind of in the ball park, but these details take it to a whole other level.

Cheers
