Default the for sale section

is there any chance there could be a rule to state you must put a price. all these "offers" adverts are annoying. I just cba to make an enquiry onto to find out they want more than I'm willing to part with.

At least put "offers around £100" or something. What ever happened to £100 ono.

It'll save your (seller) own time and of course buyers in the long run no doubt

I second that along with proposing a rule that makes pictures essential along with banning "Paypal Gift" as it doesnt protect the buyer or seller.

Well, I can understand stating a price, and if someone wants to sell it, then they need to put a price, or have plenty of waster PM's

Pics, well, yes, again, if you want to sell it quickly.

Payment, that is purely up to the buyer and seller as to how, if the buyer wants to pay by gift, then that is their decision, and they must accept that there is no comeback with that either.

I think, more rules just make it more complicated, then it needs moderating.... if people want to be bad sellers, then they won't sell much.

If it aint broke - dont fix it.

If people are serious about buying then they will Pm the seller with an offer.

Pics would be nice but not everyone knows how to do that unfortunately. ive bought and sold dozens of items from here and touch wood, never had any issues.

But some things can have a whole range of possible values. Especially cars, where a mint, full custom race car with a spares can fetch substantially more than a used and abused base car.
Lets take the B4 for example. You can get a used Stealth for £50-60, but an '09 factory team with brass bits, and all the hop-ups will be at least double that. I bet the people selling the later get feed up of PM's saying 'I'll give you £60 for it' but thats because thats the going rate. If your car is worth more than that SAY SO!

just reading this and the paypal gift way of payment has been brought up in the maxbashing forum and as a result of people looking at paypal you dont get any cover apart from if you buy from ebay so sending the payment as a gift or as a paypal payment makes no difference outside ebay

I have asked for payment to be sent as a gift numerous times and not had any issues. I did have one item that was very late in arriving and offered the buyer a refund. I have no doubt that the vast majority of sellers on here are honest and would do the same regardless of whether it is sent as a gift or not
I personally do not either see a problem with people posting offers invited. If youre interested in the item you send a pm, if youre not or dont like it when people put offers on their ad, dont pm, simples

leave it as is, if you cant be arsed to make a offer don't winge about it,most people will ask for offers to get the maximum amount of money they can for a for sale item, which in the end is all everyone wants,

Well thats total crap. If you send as gift then its all a risk as its down to trusting the bloke you bought it off (who your probably dont know)

If you send it for "goods" and it doesnt arrive then you can file a paypal dispute where their insurance policy covers you.

Agree with Matt,

Plus...to me oOple is about the banter, the information, the reviews and the race reports...everything else is a bonus.

Trying to turn the For Sale section into some rule stricken area goes against it all.....IMO..

True....the "Guidelines" are set and we just hope members are sensible about what they do and then it can just go with the flow without any issues, as for paypal gift i ask for it myself and will pay as a gift if asked it boils down to common sence if your in doubt dont deal.

Well the only thing with the whole Paypal isuse is if someone is just on here scamming everyone.

I don't think there can really be "rules" to protect people but i would say to use common sense and probably NOT to buy from someone who has only say 2-3 posts to their name - Probably stick with people that have been here a while and made at least 50 posts so you know they're a bit more genuine

I don't really have a problem with the gift part. it was just the complete lack of prices that frustrated me personally.

But if someone is serious in buying it they will make a "fair" offer, there will also be a description, of the condition and spares etc and hopefully a pic, so that should weed out the silly offer brigade

I don't know you should see some of the offers even when you've put a price!
Personally I prefer to see a price and try and put one in my adverts, the trouble with the offers adverts is when they haven't given the detail that Lee refers to.
