Exclamation This Weekend

Many thanks to everyone who turned up yesterday (NOT!)

All club members had letters advising of a working party on the 6th June, and how many members turned up? FOUR! Those were Richard, Chris, Stu and myself. Thanks Richard for providing the timber used to fix the rostrum. Thanks also Dianne for bring all the materials we needed to start the work.

I would also like to thank Sharon and Rebecca Hirst who sat and painted most of the track edging yesterday, and the wooden track dividers today, and who will also be going back to finish the painting before the regional.

Club members should be doing all this, not people who don't even race

Hopefully we will be having another work party to complete all the needed work before the regional, on the 20th June and I'm sure I am not the only one who hopes to see some more members attend. This will be confirmed nearer the time.

I too am disappointed with the turnout. What will it take to get members to realise that a club is run on a voluntary basis - no-one is paid to do any of the work. Without volunteers clubs close, which is why we have so few clubs in this part of the region.

When work is left to a few members each time, they get fed up - then with no-one to do the work the club closes.

We have made a huge effort with the Batley club this year and put on a good calendar of events - support the club and help to keep it running by attending the meetings which will help with the finances and make for fun meetings and come and help when work is needed with the track - the more members that help, the less work there is for everyone.

We may have had a couple of people with us at RHR that would have turned up - as we were getting ready for next weekends regional
