Talking Brushless Turns Into Brushed Turns

Hi All

Just Wondered What Brushless Is Equivelent To A 10Turn Single Brushed??

I Think We Should Start A List So I'll Go First Correct Me If Im Wrong:

Brushed = Brushless

20 - 27 = 13.5
19 = 10.5

Ta
John

No need to go on - there is no equivalence. It's like trying to compare a diesel car to a petrol car - pointless. One (diesel/BL) is just so far ahead of the other (petrol/BR) in the efficiency league that it results in lots more performance for a given energy input. It's fair to say that current classes wouldn't be possible if we stuck with BR.

What has evolved is a number of classes for beginners, Club specialists and Nationals. For the old 27T class, 17.5 has been adopted. For 19T we now seem to have 13.5BL, and for the old 12T class it's 10.5BL. Mod is still Mod...

However, is you put these cars on the track with the old NiMh/BR combinations, the new BL classes are streets ahead. HTH

I believe those equivalences are American - in the UK, BRCA has decided 13.5 BL = 27T brushed and 10.5 BL = 19T BR.

The fact that brushless motors are still improving with each new generation further confuses the issue...

I've just learned that sensorless brushless setups are nowhere near as vulnerable to water as sensored ones.

However, a brushed backup motor and ESC would work out less, especially used.

Hence why I'll be going back to a 10.5 for next weekend due to the 7.5 being a bit rapid at the circuit I'm at.

10.5 to get the set-up sweet.. Worn tyres and leaking shocks didn't help
