Default Model shops/ordering

So there i was, sat at work when the postman drops in a wee jiffy bag for me. Strange considering i cant remember ordering anything!
On opening i find that it is some Associated blue springs that i ordered through a well known uk Model shop just over 1 year ago ! 09/05/08 to be exact.......back orders can take take a while so ive been told, but a whole year??
Anyway, there is more!, i ordered front springs, and its clearly on the invoice as "front spring Blue", you guessed it, they sent rears ! d'oh!

Compare that to DMS Racing who i have been using quite a bit over the last few months. They give a Spot on service, really friendly, parts shipped and delivered mega quickly and offer the kind of service that we all come to expexct these days.
Thank you DMS!

I know everyone can make mistakes, myself included and i know its not a lot of money, but i too work in the retail industry dealing with every day customers selling a product and it is very hard to please everyone all of the time but if this happened in our shop...... i would think something, somewhere was not working as perhaps it should do.

Forgive me if i sound a tad harsh i dont want this to turn in to a huge slagging off session. Just thought id say something.

Hey Martin, thanks for the kind words, I read the first bit and thought "I hope thats not us"...........LOL, then read the second paragraph.

To be fair, in "some" cases "some" of the distributors (not all) are being very slow at the moment with supply of what we would all call "everyday" items, in the current economic climate this seems to happen more and more, but we have had to wait recently for "many months" for what we would all think is an item sure to be in stock as an everyday item. The whole industry (on a global scale) is a bit shabby at present and is as bad as I have witnessed in the 17 years that DMS have been running now.

However, the item not matching in your order to the invoice is not great, especially if they had a year to get it right (having said that I am sure we have probably done the same at some stage by mistake)....

Hi Darren!, Thanks for coming back on this one. Well i have to say, praise where its due!. As many people know, i have only been racing for a year and its great when you can find somewhere like youself that is friendly and reliable for advise/service etc.

To be honest though its not really the time of waiting that bothered me, it was mainly the fact that it was wrong after such a long time.
On the other hand from my experience of where i work, 95% parts we order from Kawasaki are held in Holland and come over night but if they dont have it in stock we can often wait 3-4 weeks for them to come from Japan and even that relativly short time can anger some of our customers.

But obviously time scales are more of a supplier issue rather than dealer issue.

I know this isn't a "lets brown nose dms" thread but I always find them the best and most prompt with deliveries

I agree with you regarding DMS, even if their supplier has not got what you order they keep you updated as to when they hope to have in stock for you.
