Default WHICH CAR FOR MY 3YR OLD?

Since tanking my little boy to watch indoor racing he wants a car!!!

So thought id ask if you guys have any ideas?

Spec required:-

1) Big is better
2) He will mainly use it indoors so needs to be slow really
3) Was thinking of a rock crawler type vehicle as i guess they go nice and slow
4) Oh yes cost - need to keep this as low as possible cause i spent to much on 1/10th electric already!! even something 2nd hand would be fine...

any ideas or anyone got soemthing they want to sell?

cheers

The Tamiya GB-02 series are pretty good, in stock form, slow enough for around the living room, wont break if he hits something, but can be upgraded. Also come in off-road or on-road guises too

Tamiya GB-02 is also a small car - 1/18th buggy.

1/10th-ish rock crawlers would be great I think, very slow, 4wd, lots of steering, reverse. Considered one for my daughter. The downside is that 1/10th scale has a higher starting cost, but the upside is that you can share electrics with your 1/10th race car. Perhaps the bubble has already burst for crawlers in the UK and you could pick up a bargain, I'm sure I saw the Yokomo crawler kit being advertised for £100 new on ebay, including ESC.

Biggest problem with a 3-year old is finding a transmitter to fit little hands! My daughter is a tall 2.5 year old (wears 3-4 clothes), and she can't get her hands round the smallest transmitter I have seen, which is the Kyosho Perfex wheel from a Mini Inferno. Sticks seem even harder for small hands to get around.

something like this would do. you can always install a slower motor like a 35t etc until he gets to grips with it. spares are cheap and readily available. it also shares the same chassis as the buggy version so a conversion would basically be a shell and wheels if he wants to race with other buggies.

I know its not big but if you crash into anything it wont break or break the thing it hit mum will love it if he drives around smashing vases and aunaments etc.

my 3year old has an rc18t and he loves it. I know it's not big but that means it's not too big to drive around indoors and being 4wd it doesn't get stuck on the everyday obstacles in the house!

Maybe Traxxas Slash - from what I've heard and seen it's almost indestructible car.
I used to have Tamia Manta Ray QD when I was child - worked for me for few years

http://www.rcmodscars.co.uk/1-day-i57.html

These are great value if you want a new all in one rc car.

My 3yo had a Grasshopper and loved it, it was quick and now he is 5 he has a 540 motor in it and he still hasnt brtoken anything on the car.. Plus his dad can mod it.

My daughter is now 3 so she also will be running a Grasshopper (although she wants a pink one..)

If it has to be 1:10 and you want a proper RC truck I would recommend one of the Tamiya twin motor trucks,

http://www.tamiya.modelsport.co.uk/?...=262&ShowCar=1

There are a few different variations (Double Blazed, Twin Detonator, Wild Dagger etc) and loads turn up on Tamiya Club and Ebay so you should be able to pick up a decent second hand ready to run with radio gear for £80 or less. In standard form they're real slow (I got rid of my Wild Dagger because it was too toy like and slow) They do stand up to the bashing well and are very easy to fix and modify, however like most 1:10 not really suited to indoor use.
