I am having trouble with grip roll on a high bite carpet. I'm not sure whether it is caused by the front or the rear and what adjustments to make. The car feels good around most of the track and at higher speeds the front/rear balance is good, but if I attack the sharper, slower corners I end up on my roof.
I'm running a B2 with yellow schumacher minipins as low as I can get the back and the front adjusted so that it is level with the front. Front: Green springs associated #1 pistons and 35wt oil. Rear: Silver springs, associated #1 pistons and 35wt oil. I started with James Welshy40's setup but think the carpet has a bit too much grip for this. Any help would be much appreciated. Ben |

I had the same when I tried Minipins at the front on carpet on my B4 instead of Staggers, even after cutting them and adapting the setup quite a bit.
So, if its high bite carpet all around try yellow Staggers instead, they should solve that problem instantly. If you´ll miss steering afterwards, you can alter your setup or finetune the tires by slicing the ribs. You could also do some things setupwise instead like using (more) internal limiters in the shocks to limit the travel to lessen traction roll, but Staggers would do it way more significantly. On full carpet tracks they´re usually the tires of choice and used without inserts. |

try letting off the throttle and letting your car roll into the tight slow grippy corners then put throttle back on exiting, also try schumacher yellow compound minispikes or cut rows off your minipins, the minispikes don't have as much bite as minipins so don't tend to grip roll as much

I would also run blue springs on the front

Try some droop limiters on the rear shocks (washers under the piston) to limit downtravel and weight transfert.

and no 2 pistons in the front

Way too soft on the front, go silver or blue. Then start cutting rows off the tires.

Definitely too soft - Is there any bumpy sections? If not i would go stiff all round, 40wt rear, no1 piston with Silver springs and 45wt Front, no2 piston and blue / silver springs.
Lower the car as much as you can get away with, run a short front link and cut the inner and outer row of the front tyres.

Dont forget guys this is a B2 not a B4.
I found 30 wt in the front with black springs (size 1 pistons) and 35 in the rear with green springs (size 1 pistons) , front wishbones under level, and rear ujs under level, 25 degree castor front, batterys full forward and it worked rather well on high grip carpet (even though Craig Harris said it was on the edge) and at the worksop indoor finals. It jumped rather well too. I used Full uncut mini pin yellows all round. However I understand why your having problems as I love over steer with this so would work best with possibly silver springs all over, maybe as Dave said blues on the front.

Hey there,
Was wondering if running Schumacher Yello Mini Spikes would help? Andy |

Thanks for all the tips and ideas. I stiffened the car up all round going with 35wt oil and silver springs on all corners, and lowered it a bit so that the driveshafts are just below level. I've run the car at the last 2 Newbury Sunday meets and at the last on the car handled a treat. Unfortunately its still a bit rubbish at my normal Friday night club that smaller, tighter with more grippy carpet, but c'est la vie. Now my problem is that the e-clips that hold the bulkhead kingpins in place keep falling off meaning the kingpins slide backward and wishbones snap landing from the jumps. I've just put the last of my wishbone reserve stock on the car and am to scared to run it until I find some replacements!

Simple Answer:
See if you can get hold of a 2nd hand B4... Should be a few about what with the recession and all. Loads of setups for it, and a few of the parts will be interchangeable from the B2. If you like it, you could go ahead with the X6 conversion which seems very popular at the moment. Alternatively, the Kyosho RB5 seems to be gaining popularity, and Roger Mills will keenly try and talk you into one. HTH Mark

it never worked for me to much steering- Tucker and harris told me to change the blocks to 3-3 rear blocks ( 3 deg toe in 3 deg anti sqaut ) and 30 front blocks calmed it down a lot. with silver front green rears as blues where not aroud at the time

Bang on. Im gonna be down in the next few months, specifically to find a couple of my mates. But hope to be down for an event for a giggle in 2wd using a B4. Should be fun, even if I come last. Give Jody my regards.
