Default Built Quality

Hi there!

I'm pretty new to RC cars so I'm sometimes wondering some fittings are correct.

My first RC Car is a 1:18 Team Xray M18T Pro. Really an exceptionally manufactured piece! Every part just falls into place and works perfectly. I love it!

Just recently got myself a B44 and I'm currently building it. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed.
The first problem that occured: the pin of the front gearbox CVA did not fit. Not knowing what to do, I got my Dremel and took some material off some part to make the CVA fit. Team Asso will replace the parts, so I'm cool.
The next thing I'm not sure about is: I built the rear gearbox (here the CVA parts fitted fine) but the CVA bearings do not really "fall" into the gearbox housing. I need to push them into place. And also turning the CVA doesn't go 100% smooth.

I don't know if that is normal and the gearbox needs to be broken in? Or do I have to grind here and there?

I'm very thankful for any help.
Christoph

I'm just building my B44 and I'm finding the fit and finish not bad, just remove a bit of flashing here and there. I actually think it fits together better than my B4. I found the recommended # of shims to be a bit off, some places I put less and some I put more.

When I built the kit last year it all went together perfectly and had several rebuilds and not had to replace anything yet it's all still perfect just as it was the day I got it the quality of the parts I think is really good, no dremeling or sanding ect should be needed at all, maybe you got an unlucky kit

I didnt have any issues with mine either although the car needs to be ran in to have it as free as possible. I would recommend running it for 5 mins balanced on a set of tyres and that should do the trick

It happens sometimes with the AE housings. You are correct, you have to gently grind where the bearings go until they don't bind.

Ok, I will do some gentle grinding!

Many thanks for the advice, just needed to know if that normal manufacturing tolerance, or my clumsiness ;-)

So I'll happily go back finishing my new toy and report back when I'm done.

cheers,
Christoph
