Default Good car for a beginner/improver?

A friend of mine has been running my spare car for a few weeks. She is really enjoying her racing and improving fast. She is now looking at buying her first car. I think it would be good for her to get a new kit first and learn about cars properly rather than eBaying a 2nd hand car. The car she has been running is a Losi XXX-S E-Racer and I was thinking something similar spec and hopefully similar in price and performance, eg front and rear diff's, full bearings ect. Given that the E-racer and Tamiya TA-05R are discontinued and the Xray T2R is a bit pricey I was wondering if anyone on here had any good ideas.

Cheers

not wanting to waste peoples time, I've been looking through the past threads on this forum. The Schumacher MI3.5 S1 looks good but has a spool, rubbish on the small tracks near me! The Tamiya TA05-R seems like the popular choice. The Tamiya USA website says that it has been discontinued. Lots of places still seem to be selling them, but I'm worried about parts availability in the future and stories of static causing electrical problems. Does anyone have experience with Cyclone S?

Maverick strada is ok and priced well... but I guess the answer may be to bite the bullet... and the credit card!!!

Hot bodies Cyclone has some good results to shout about and are popular for club racers... my club has about 4-5 of 'em..

Associated are up there when it comes to performance, but I'm not sure what their current line up is...

Schumacher are manufactured in the UK but I think the prices kinda reflect this... ie higher resources costs etc...

But the ultimate IMO has gotta be xray... yeh I know they bring a "new" model out every year... but this means good deals may be had on the previous seasons kits...'n to be honest, there is little difference between "new" and "old" xrays and many parts can be interchanged...

Hope this helps and not hinders.... but whatever your/her choice... have fun...

I would really recommend to buy used car (Xray works great even used one - personal experience).

The TA05-R and TA05IFS-R are great cars. Dont worry about spares as the -R models are just cars with lots of the hop-ups already included. So you will be able to buy spares for years to come. The IFS-R is newer and has TRF416 suspension geometry. Being a fan of them, I'd say go for a TA05, its a top car and they race around the local track (small and technical) really well. Plus they are tough
