Default Bt vision..any good?

After some opinions, Deliberatinng whether to switch over to Bt vision.

Have sky Hd, sinced it come out. Wanting to save a few quid accross the board. I have bt broadband on the unlimited package, including the hub phone. Since sky Hd channel package costs loads i thought of
a) changing to bt vision
b)droppping back on my broadband package?

If i change broadband providers i have to sod about with mac codes, new routers and all that jazz.

But in a time of recession and the need for spares for my buggies!

Thanks
Steve

I recently changed from SKY to Virgin Media and I've been very impressed so far. The only reason I changed was because my SKY kept cutting out and there was nothing they could do to repair it.

I'm running at around 8meg broadband which is plenty for me and I've gone for their full package. I'm only missing out on Sky Sports but I'll get over it.

The amount of TV that you can watch on demand is amazing!!

Get it!

Jonesy, virgin is shit, you've just got lucky. Wait till something fcuks up, then you'll be PISSED!

the best broadband provider currently out there is O2, trust me (they have by far the least amount of people complaining about their service. I know this cos i work for a price comparison site)

i got BT vision & it seems pretty good so far
all your freeview channels plus your choice of on demand packages & even sultana sports if thats what floats your boat
i very rarely watch TV so i just got the £5 a month drama/adult package
(adult = grown ups ie not kids channel ) but yeah have to say its been good so far, cheap too.
apparently the box can record 80 hours worth of stuff plus it has a twin tuner so you can watch a different channel to the one you're recording
oh & you can record 2 different channels while watching something on demand! how good is that

It can't be as bad as the sh1te I've had to put up with over the past 9 months from SKY, awful service from them

We have the virgin package and all i can say is.. utter bollocks! Internet is slow, the t.v box lags when changing channels or searching in the tv guide, quality of picture is very poor also.
Tried on numerous attempts to get a techie out but its never happened, and each time we ring its either our fault or 'we have work on going in that area' how many people have heard that one? please.

I cant fault Sky. When i had a box issue on my HD service, two people showed up, replaced the box for a brand new one and even adjusted my dish so i get 100% on signal quality! Excellent service imo, even if it costs a bomb.

My internet is with Virgin, once again it runs perfectly and i always get max speed. Some unlucky people are in built up areas which can overload the UBR's, hence the slow speeds.

The TV is crap though, my parents have it and it's forever freezing on the tv guide and between changing channels.

My mate has just had BT vision installed and so far is really happy - i've been over and it seems to work really well, certainly the next best thing to Sky as far as i can tell.

The only reason i have Sky is for the Sports to be honest so i can't ever change away from it now

I do get my broadband through them too which so far has been faultless too so i'm pretty happy, just a shame it's so expensive!

it's never when you're happy with a provider that's the real test of whether they're any good or not, it's the customer service when things go tits up.

ps - Sky Sports is ace for the footy, but the all important merseyside derbies (biggest games in the world) are both on Setanta next week. BOBBINS!!

Right guys, so seeing as I don't watch Footy (no I'm not gay) on my (cheapest £19 odd quid a month) sky package, is there anything else I could switch over to to save a few pennies?

Depends what channels you want? I don't think you get Sky one on Virgin unless you get their XL package.

I have sky+, i am on my 5th or 6th box, its been ok for a year and now its out of warranty it cocks up, so i cant actually watch the stuff saved on the hard drive, so i called them, the very polite asian brother insisted i should pay £60 for a call out and £99 for a new box so i said i may as well get HD for that, but they would only do HD for £65 installation and £199 for the box, despite having sky talk and broadband plus the full sky tv package for 5 years

Not impressed with them

They are doing HD for £75 at the moment politely tell them to stop being idiots and charge the right prices.

O and for about £10 they have a care package which is free call outs and free replacements My mates dish messed up and they wanted £150, but if he took the care thing out it was free.
