I'm looking to make a return to racing in the next few weeks.
Almost there with my gear but yet to settle on radio. A few have recommended the absima cr3p. I've researched various sets & keep coming back to this one. According to a few things i have read the Flysky gt3b is a clone & very similar in setup. It also works out a bit cheaper than the absima. Has anyone got either, tried both or got any other info on either set. Cheers Y |

Coming from someone who had to endure living with a GT3B (that's the only way I can describe it), I can't stress enough the importance of a good radio set. It's the one thing that connects you to your car, and besides ergonomics, the way you "feel" the car through your radio gear will change your understanding of what the car's doing.
Budget radios are good enough for learning the basics, but a good Tx/Rx combo will be one of the best investments you can make. Something like the Sanwa MT4, although several times the price of a GT3B, does genuinely feel several times better. The FlySky is hands down the worst radio set I've ever used - I'm aware that some bashers are fans of it because receivers are dirt cheap, but it's simply not cut out for racing duties - half of the functions it claims to have are either temperamental or non-existent. If you are deciding between that and the Absima, I would say the CR3P wins hands-down. |

I've only ever had a look at them, but as long as it has working exponential and trims, it's already surpassed the FlySky. The Absima seems to have plenty of good reviews, but almost anything would be better than the GT3B. Also consider things like the Spektrum DX4C, anything in the £50-£100 price range will perform similarly. I've tried the Etronix Pulse radios before, since they're just about cheaper than the FlySky - they aren't great ergonomically and feel pretty cheap (I also had some severe glitching with mine, could've just been a one-off though), but at least all the trims functioned correctly!
If you ever want a more professional grade radio set without the massive price tag, I run the Sanwa MT4-S - I can't recommend it enough. It's essentially a repackaged M12 that's half the price. Long story short, anything from a reputable brand within your price range will be better for racing than the GT3B. ![]() |

I'd love something a bit more high end but just want to see how I find things once I'm up and running. The absima looks like a good starting point.
Have you came across anyone using the Sanwa/Airtronics MX-V? £75 Quote:

It's not as popular as it should be in my opinion; the people I've seen who've had experience of it think it's a very nice transmitter. It has the same FHSS system as the MT4, and it should have a similar latency figure to the standard MT4 - some members on RC Tech have tried both and said they feel little to no difference. It only lacks the finer adjustment of the MT4, but it's not something you'd be using anyway - hence why I bought an MT4-S over an M12 - an extra £200 for a handful of parameters that I doubt even professionals make much use of is extortionate.

I have a cr3p which I ran for approx a year, and then switched to an mt4 as a gift. I have to say, I like both, although mt4 is nicer in the hand, while cr3p is easier to access settings and functions.
I'm sure better drivers will be able to tell difference in lag or response times, but I can't tell. I'd recommend both and either

There are 2 recent threads in 1:10th section about Absima cr3p and alternatives. Can't post link but one is called "would you change anything" and other is "tx/rx" or something like.
Essentially, the advice is pretty similar in all, but worth a look
