Default Novak GTB- 'THERMALED?'

Out test driving my Catsx yesterday with a sintered 13.5 Novak GTB setup runnig kit standard spur and a 28 pinion ( I know it wasnt the correct gearing-I need 7-1 apparently) and after around 10mins the car stops. Fan still running but no steering etc..Sure the motor was a little hot but nothing that i havent seen before. After cooling down I ran it again and it lasted less than a minute. I tried this a couple of more times but it just kept shutting down. I have the Lipo cut off model but I tried fresh lipo's each time and still shutting down. Any idea's?

Ok that helps. Im running a spektrum reciever also and never had this happen before. I might swap that out with another and see if that changes anything. Cheers-Jason.

Grey. I have been running these receivers with all 3 of my GTBs for a while now. Its the first time this kind of thing has happened.

Jim Dixon had some similair issues with a grey one recently at York, though with a Losi system not Novak.

It sounds like the Spektrum is shutting down either due to range (I have had this once when I was trying to run the aerial too low) or voltage. I'd stand the aerial right up and use a recevier cap for voltage protection and try again.

Wasn't Jim's problem the top (daughter) board in the RX hitting the bottom (main) board and shorting - resulting in it going flat out!!! --- Fixed on later ones by a bit of foam between the boards

But I agree with what Dan says about trying stuff. I ALWAYS run a cap now.
