Yes reinforce your front shock tower. There is a weak point. Lots of my buddies run another carbon fiber brace behind the tower. Do you plan on racing it?

Most definatly, i've got the kyosho carbon chassis, top brace, front and rear shock towers. And alloy front shock tower mount.

Anything else i might encounter along the way?

Hi,

I built mine last week. First of all you need a good screws kit. Screws coming with the kit are really poor quality.
Some assembly advices here on a french website : http://www.mini-zone.com/articles.php?lng=fr&pg=560 .

I would also recommend the front ali hinge pin part no law31 and also when you build it I found it best to shim the bevel gears tight and also set the slipper quite loose to prevent the gears from stripping

The shimming of the diff is the one thing im dreading. Ive read so many horror stories about the diffs and the slipper.

Ironic thing is im a mechanic by trade and rebuilding a diff on a truck wouldnt fase my in the slightest.

will has to put the ally hinge pin mount on my shopping list or pop to the local shop when i get there.

Cheers

dc racing do a hex screw kit for about £10. much better than the kit screws.
rear UJ's are a good buy, but not 100% essential
same goes for the B4 blue titanium turnbuckles.
double up the front shock mount with an atomic carbon one.
upgrade the shock seals if they are the old ones in your kit.
Also DON'T use the kit diff balls, they are kack. get some AE tungsten ones or ceramics if you can afford it. same goes for the thrust balls.

to shim the diff, just move one of the thick shims from the inside of the gear to the outside, and make sure your slipper has at least some slip to it, not locked up!

not sure about the carbon chassis. i tried an atomic chassis and found the car to be really unbalanced to before over jumps and also looser round the track. the kyosho one probably won't be as bad, but the flex in the original kit chassis definitely seems to generate more grip.

Don't forget the 10 degree castor blocks Jim!!

I wouldn't bother with the kyosho carbon parts the plastics are fine and half the price. I use the atomic front tower and an alloy brace at the front. Otherwise its mostly kit, except the bearings, diff balls and a shiney screw kit. I also use the larger 78t spur gear

well spotted Wayne!

10 degree hubs make it handle much better!! But get a couple of sets as this is the main thing i have broken, but only when hitting a fairly solid track marking. a spare pack of the king pins that go through the hub would also be a good idea as these tend to vanish if you break the hub.

Cheers Guys ,

Keep em coming! I cant see the point in building a car to have to tear it appart to upgrade it every ten mins, i'd rather build it right first time then enjoy racing it . If you know what i mean!

I will be racing indoors on a tight wooden floor , anybody got any setup/spring ratings that work well to give me something to start off with, or even a decent tyre?
