Default Going rate for a s/h x-6 or the cheapest way to do it. + General advice...

Hi guys..

Im in need of a cheap way to continue racing and im currently in the process of selling my 4wd.

Iv chose the x-6 as i like the way it handles ( drove a few ) and like the fact that i can run lipo easily. I dont race every week, so 2wd is more appealing on maintenenance as well. Iv had a B4 (ages ago ) and also had a brief spell with an Rb5, but deffo preffered the xfactory way.

What sort of money do second hand x-6's go for?? There was one on here but was up for £300, which i thought was a bit steep but it was hopped up.
Would it be cheaper for me to get a second hand b4 and simply buy the coversion kit... or wait and see what crops up.

Thanks..

Ps - is it worth considering buying a b4 stealth and simply ditching the std shocks and buy the losi ones as it seems to be more popular. Any advice that anyone can give is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Col.

I dont know about the b4 stealth question as im not sure of all the differences, you may need mr boyle for that.

But i would say you would get them for £150 upwards, new ones do go for more as you would expect but to be honest the bits that wear are cheap, ie the rear hingepin inserts.

You have made the fastest choice

X6 is the way to go,especially lipo, if you have a b4 already i would go the conversion route, then you'll no the car inside out so to speak,we ran a b4 and a x6 both brand new back to back, and Matty was just faster overall the the x6.a used b4 and new x6 conversion will be cheaper i think.

No B4 as yet. Had 2 a while ago and let them go cheap... Never mind lol.

So yes its either purchase a s/h b4 and coversion kit or go crazy and get new everything lol.. ( I am trying to watch my budget though lol )

Thanks so far guys.

The X-6's are hard to find second hand as there are a lot of people all wanting them. If you go for a cheap B4 and then the conversion there are a few things you would have to buy, all of which add up. (both e-speed parts, new axles, losi shocks etc)

I was quite lucky as i decided to keep my B4 when i changed to the XXXCR, so it was just the conversion i needed, i then slowly upgraded the car bit by bit to what it is now...

You dont need the new axles straight away or the losi shocks or either of the espeed parts. the standard car is pretty good! (i ran mine for a few weeks without any of these bits)

The upgrades just make it easier to set up as you can follow other peoples set ups, plus they give you more options.

My dad got an X-6 off ebay a couple of weeks ago, all the hop ups, loads of spares.. £180... so i wouldnt pay more than that for a second hand one, unless its mint!

Hope that helps, Tom

Just to chuck in my thoughts. I bought a 3-speed one off a fellow oOplian with a few spares for £130 including postage. It has a new chassis and Losi shocks/axles and is mint, best condition secondhand car I've ever bought by miles. I was going to run it as it came but I've inevitably gone a bit daft and bought a level 2 upgrade from DMS so now its got a 4 gear 'box and carbon rear shock towers. I've also gone for a new rear brace and 2.35" pins. Oh, and I had to get a new shell of course, as you do . It now stands me at about £175 or thereabouts. If I'd bought a new conversion kit and located a donor B4 I reckon it would have worked out about the same after I'd spent a bit on replacing the odd worn out bit or three.

All VERY sensible upgrades, the latest spec car is MILES better than the 3 gear car used to be.
