Which 4wd kit?

I have a tlr22-2 and fancy a 4wd to go with it. Don't really want losi if only Because I like having different brand models. Love the look of the Durango but is it any good?
I am just getting back into indoor club racing and may do some AstroTurf outdoor next year.
Any suggestions welcome

I've just bought a Yokomo Bmax4 III and I'm very impressed with the quality and spec of the kit.

It would probably be a good idea to see what is being run at you're local club and take it from there.

thanks guys. Do most 4WD have geared diffs? I prefer the idea of those over ball diffs, find them tricky to set up and it doesn't help that I don't know what I'm doing!
Motor wise am I looking at 6.5 or similar?
Would prefer a car that takes shorty lipos as I have a few of them

my top 3 would be


bmax4 iii (great car for the money it is now and has gear diffs)

durango 410 v4 (again good car for the money and you can pick 2nd ones up for good money, also gear diffs)

kyosho zx6 (this is the car i run, only reason i placed this car 3rd and not top is price, ive had the bmax4 iii it was great!! this car comes with ball diffs but ive changed mine to gear for an extra £104

i wish you hadn't said that! I have always loved Kyosho cars, used to run them in rallycross years ago.
That is one very expensive car once you add diffs, are spares easily accessible?

Spares are very easy to get hold of, je models, inside line, rc pit box, mb models to name a few.

Wishbones, shock towers, shock shafts that's about it! I'm not the best driver and tend to crash a lot but I've not broken it

I have bought a RudeBits spine weight because I'm using shorty lipo

Apart from that it's all you need mate, this car would be top of the list if the price was somewhat lower lol

If you do go kyosho drop me a pm, I've got a brand new set of gear diffs built up ready as spares but I don't need them

I have found them on rc mart for about £317 so with post I reckon £370 which is a little less than UK prices. Obviously got risk of duty on top of that.

I've only driven the K1, Durango and Xray - all three are great to be honest. I think the Durango might be the 'toughest' of the three, or at least it was until they started changing shock towers etc. But the suspension is near indestructable.

The HotBodies really intrigues me right now - that's the one I'd personally go for despite the mockery of my friends who say it looks ugly - yes, it's certainly ODD and has suspension seemingly made of rubber, but looking at Richard Lowe's last weekend with the AVID chassis on there, oh, I need it. NEED IT. No idea what the support is like or the quality, it's just mechanically yummy.

I had the d413 before the kyosho, for carpet is was nothing like the bmax iii and now the kyosho,

I don't run on anything other then carpet so it was time to move it on

even with the carbon plates on the arms as i said, they were very soft. A centre diff is something that's gonna shine on rough loose surfaces more. Lowe won chadderton last weekend though with his. 300k centre diff oil

i want it because it's a great design and looks mad.

You don't NEED gear diffs in the ZX6 ... or any other car for that matter, it's just presonal preference. I prefer ball diffs in everything.

Don't let the cost of the gear diffs put you off the ZX6, it's great straight out of the box.

I bought gear diffs because I don't have time to rebuild ball diffs, buying balls and diff rings every other month is not for me either lol

I've not tried the zx6 with ball diffs but I'm not saying it's not the way to go either

I've had many 4wd's including cat sx2 sx3 , k1 , xray xb4 and now gone back to a durango v4 410.

I liked all of the cars , but love my durango ,its easy to drive / maintain / set up and its tough .

i'm running a yokomo b-max2 for 2wd etc , and have lately been considering getting a b-max4 , but after running my 410 yesturday for the first time in weeks , i'm glad to report its staying !!

Get one Jimmy. Really happy with mine. i have extended the chassis by 16mm which transforms the car,makes it so much easier to drive. I wanted it to drive the same as my DARC durango,which in extending the chassis its pretty much there.
Just got another one for my son who wanted a 4wd.
Spare wise they are pretty much bullet proof.
Yes the arms are pretty soft,but can be suited to any track conditions.I have three versions,plastic inserts,c/f inserts and araldite filled. literally five minutes to change to suit the track you are racing at.
