Does the NiMH version of the Cat SX accept LiPo's without the need to change the entire chassis?
Could I get away with just buying the LiPo battery strap & servo mounts & attaching them to the NiMH chassis - I guess the crucial factor would be: Is their material where the holes would need to be drilled for the LiPo parts? I have a good stock of good NiMH batteries & wasn't planning on changing to LiPo until 2010 season. I'm looking for a new 4wd for next season & beyond & obviously the Cat is a strong contender. Ironically, one of the unique selling points of the car (2 battery specific versions) is pushing the car towards double the cost of others that I am considering. One other quick question. Does the Novak GTB fit in the NiMH version? I noticed that the LRP was a snug fit between the motor & cells & the Novak is a bit fatter than the LRP |

I've got a 5000mah Lipo sitting in my NIMH CAT as we speak. You don't have to buy the lipo chassis, all you have to do is get the lipo battery bar, spacers for the servo and the bit that pushes the front belt out of the way (can't remember it's name, but it's basically a couple of bearings on a bar that bolts on under the front belt). To keep the lipo from sliding sideways I have two lead weights (one at the back and one at the front) glued in place and it hasn't moved at all. This way if the lipo's don't become legal then you can convert back with little hassle and more importantly, little money.
![]() The Novak speedo fits no problem and regards the cost, the CAT is very good value for money when you consider what you get in the box and the car is awesome to drive. |

The lipo's I have are the 5000 mah CORE RC, hardcased ones from Schumacher. If you push them all the way to the centre of the car, they butt against the back of the servo and the speedo so all you have to do is stop them sliding out the side. You can do this in many ways but I just use a couple of stuck on weights as I said in my earlier post

Sorry mate, her in doors lent the camera to my eldest and needless to say it doesn't function anymore !!!. As soon as I can take some pics i'll post them up here. The lipo chassis is no different in shape it just don't have the NIMH cell slots cut in it so as long as you don't mind the chassis being cut out like that then it's a lot less hassle (and cheaper) than putting a lipo chassis on and obviously if you want you can always revert back to using NIMH. My car weighs 35 grams over the limit with the lipo sitting in place like this and handles well over jumps etc so unless anyone can prove to me that the lipo chassis makes the car handle better i'll keep it as it is

Would it matter if the lipo was more inwards than it states in the manual for fitting the lipo
