Problems with G Force 1s 120 ESC

Bought a used G Force 1s esc recently complete with programming box and I'm having some problems.

First off the program box doesn't function until it's also plugged into a power supply via the USB socket. Just plugging it into the esc and powering the esc from the 1s battery does nothing to the program box. Is this normal?

Secondly (and more of a problem) is that after 4x five minute heats last Sunday (during which the esc performed perfectly) the ESC now won't turn on at all.
Connecting it to the program box (which in turn is connected to a USB power supply) results in the power button flashing on the esc and a beeping sound. Unplugging the 1s lipo makes the beeping sound stop which suggests that power is still getting from the 1s to the esc, but it refuses to turn on.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or alternative can recommend someone who might be able it fix it?
