Default Racing Omissions

Jimmy and I took the Truggy to my parents house yesterday to see if we could get it started after it being totally stripped down, cleaned, and not run for ages. So on our arrival I was about to get the fuel dispenser filled up, while Jimmy prepared the truggy... when he realised that he had forgotten the glowstart .

Reminds me of that awkard feeling I always get after we have packed the car for a national or any race event far away from home... 'what have we forgotten'.

So the question is, that is worst omission you have ever made, when did you realise that you have left something really important at home?
What's that I hear about tent poles?

I went to Southport national in 2003 and forgot my sleeping bag, it was bloody cold! Lucky for me, one of the guys who stayed over Friday night wasn't racing 4wd, so when he went home I kept his duvet.

The one thing I forget regular is a torch, and its suprising how much it is missed when camping.

Never forgotten any of my racing gear, but now I say it, it'll be the kiss of deaf!

There was me thinking you were going to say that you shared his sleeping bag, Chris

i once forgot my transmitter too. i was on my way to snetterton from chesterfield (about 3 hrs). i'd been travelling about an hour when.....PING! that feeling crept into my head. i had to stop driving cos i knew i'd forgot something but couldn't think what. so i looked through the car and there was no transmitter. so i went back for it.

I remember having to turn back after about 30, 45 minutes because we'd forgotten the forks. I kid you not.

I think for 3A a couple of years back, I forgot to put in the spare sleeping bag for Jimmy, so we had to buy one on the way down, then when we got there I remembered I hadn't put the 12v 's in
I think Dan bailed us out with a loan of his genny in the end

Best one I know of is, from when my brother used to race (many moons ago) We'd gone to our local club at Shrewsbury and he forgot his tranny, so we unloaded and he set off back home to pick it up (only about 30 mins there and back)

After about an hour and no sign of him returning, I asked one of the other racers to give me a lift back to see what the problem was. About 2 mile into the return journey we found my brother safe and well standing at the side of the country lane talking to his mate who lived near by.

And then I spotted his car upside down in a gateway to a farmers field (perfectly parrallel parked, but the wrong way up). All he said to me was "I was only doing 30mph.. honest"

Mum & Dad weren't best pleased!!!
