Default My ProCat runner/racer!

This is a project that has been going on since last year & the build-up of it has been documented in quite some detail over on RC10Talk... http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=34889

Some of you will have already seen the above thread but for those that haven't i'd like to share some shots of the Schumacher Procat that I have recently completed... & have now raced for two Tues night club meetings at SilverstoneRCMCC.

The ProCat was 'THE' buggy that I always wanted in my early years of R/C racing - but I just couldn't afford to buy or even run one back then, so I was delighted when I received this ProCat from fellow RC10Talk & Oople member Moozo last year. The car appears to have had little run-time on it so the stripdown & clean up was quite straightforward... what has taken longer is to gather together the upgrade parts which will hopefully help durability & strength... especially with the drivetrain since I am running this with a brushless mod motor. As with my previous vintage racers, I wanted the cars to experience them from a handling aspect as they would have been Bitd, so the geometry & shocks are all as per the original ProCat kit. Likewise I've tried to keep that vintage look & feel - hence why my custom chassis & shorty LiPo tray & straps (& rear shock brace) have been cut from FR4/G10 material like the original chassis would have been. A quick run-down of the upgrades & new parts includes;

- BossCat Slipper clutch/layshaft & pulley
- BossCat Ballraced Pro Diff
- BossCat Eccentric bearing housings (required for diff fitment)
- BossCat 'Zed' bracket (soon to be swapped out for an alloy MMS one courtesy of Peakey )
- BossCat Rear arms/hubs & mountings (to use 1/8" dia inner hinge pins)
- Custom FR4 chassis, shorty LiPo tray & straps also rear shock tower brace were drawn on CAD - files & material sent to Fibrelyte for cutting
- MMS front diff pulley
- New upper & lower wishbones
- New steering pivot parts
- New TBG belt cover
- New crashback & wing 'O' rings
- Shocks re-built using AE green slime, with new seals & small bore diaphrams (still available from Schumacher)
- New 'Ballgripper' ball-cups to shock ends & rear camber link

Anyway here's the pics;

On track;

So far the car has been raced twice - the first week I ran an 8.5 Orion motor but despite finishing 5th O/A (In with the 2wds) I felt I was loosing out purely on outright speed down the straight so for Tuesday's meeting I installed my 6.5BL which certainly 'perked' it up!.. it was a busier evening & I just scraped the A final in qualifying but managed a clean run to finsh 4th
