Why no cheap 2.4 stix???

been out of the game for a while, by a while i mean that the last car i raced was a gold tub and the latest greatest thing was the b2, so yeah a while. any way, while trying to plan a return to the wonderful world of 10th off-road,
(this is where i blame Jimmy for creating oople and allowing me to find it)
i have been lurking for about a year just trying to catch up with todays technology.
i get brushless
i even get lipo.
but what i can't get my head round is why can't you get a cheap 2.4 stix. when i last raced the only time you really saw a pistol tranny was a photo in a magazine with a yank attatched to it.
a quick look on ebay and you've obviously got the acoms technisport for £60, you can even get a spekky dx2.0 from the US for less than £100, but the problem remains that i'm old fashioned and these are both pistols.
why can't these companies produce a budget stix variant, surely it's only a case of fitting all the gubbins into a stix handset and putting it in a box.

You can lock the unused stick movements off inside and or swap ratchet mechanisms on the backs of the stick units.£70 From most UK model shops.Aimed at the aircraft side of things,but 2.4 is 2.4 i reckon

I have done that to one, nice little unit, feels cheap to the touch, but then, at that price, who gives two hoots!!

I think the answer to your question is that its pretty much only in the UK that sticks are used the rest of europe, far east and the USA all use the wheels, so this is what the companies cater for

I believe that the UK is really the only market that predominantly uses sticks with cars, hence the likely investement return on development costs is minimal so the manufacturers don't bother.

I have also made a comeback this year and I used to be the only person with a wheel on the rostrum but there's a lot more of us now.

i had looked at that avenue but wasn't too sure how to go about locking off the unwanted movement, might have to look into that one a bit further.
but this still begs the question, if they can make those for that price then why can't they make a 2 or 3 channel version for the same sort of money.
