how to link spektrum 2.4ghz??

Hi all
This is probably a stupid question but i can't seem to link the 2.4ghz transmitter and receiver together. The transmitter module has the yellow light lit up and when you press the button on the receiver the light starts flashing but then i don't know how to get them to recognise each other?
can anyone help?

1Transmitter off
2press and hold button on reciever turn reciever on.
3When light starts flashing let go of receiver button
4press button on module and hold and then turn on transmitter
5 then wait and it will link up automaticly every time

ps not sure about step 5 as i have a spektrum transmitter with the module built in. But im assuming the module has a bind button on it.
