Hi folks,
After 25 years away from buggy racing I have decided to take the plunge and come back. Due to pick up a 2nd hand B44.1 shortly as well as getting a basic 2wd team C kit for my 7ry old son. Wondering what the basic tool kit should consist of? What is "nice to have" and what is "must have"? Do I recall that Associated is all imperial fittings? (Seem to recall that was why I went for Optima back in mid 80s as my tools wouldn't fit the RC10 and my paper round income didn't want to stretch to a new tool box!! Suggestions happily received. Many thanks Please accept my apologies, I have just searched again and found that there are already threads about tools - turns out I have searched a specific forum rather than generally. great choice with the 44.1 mate, i'd suggest the ballast weight between the batterys or at least some sticky weights to put between them an depending what wheels come with the car or if your going to buy some i'd suggest the hex conversion for the rear wheels, its not really a must but if the wheels do come loose the pin fitment can chew up the wheels

Thanks for that. I have just purchased the imperial toolkit for Associated (as recommended in other thread on b44.1 tools) and will wait until I get the car home and have had chance to drive it to see how it feels. I suspect it may be faster than what I was used to!!!
I've seen a few references to adding ballast while I've been lurking here for a week or two so thank you for your advice - I will gladly accept it ![]() |

Great buggy and I love mine, I'm running 4mm shock towers around as I was getting though them very quickly. The avid chassis is also a very good upgrade and makes the car feel very good. Over all they are very good.
