Default LRP sphere comp & LIPO

wotchya!

is anyone out there in oople land using the LRP sphere comp speedo with lipo cells?

I've had the speedo for a while now and thought I might dust it off (I usually use a speed passion gt 1.1 lpf). according to the LRP instructions, it 'automatically detects cell type' and and cuts off the voltage to prevent damage.

problem is, I can't find the actual voltage cut off value anywhere... and I don't want to lunch my precious trakpower 3200's.

has anyone had any issues with voltages on this ESC?

Im sure that my speedo has to be manually set for lipo. I have got LRP Sphere comp and have used lipo no problems. Its setting number 1 on the first set of flashes if that makes sense??

I am using the Nosram equivalent ESC with a Trakpower saddle pack and it works fine. the first pos of the setup has to be set to 1 (one flash) to enable the auto mode with lipo cut off. When it cuts, don't try to bring back the car at low speed because you can discharge the battery below 6 V!

I've got the same speedo and have had it on various settings and it has always cut off at 6v or slightly above, the car slows a little and then within 10 seconds or so it just stops so I wouldn't worry. Lipos have been fine and used quite a few times.

Cheers

thanks for the replies guys

another question - there's no slot on the speedo to power a fan. do you run yours without fans?

I don't run a fan, just the supplied heatsink. It's never overheated.

Cheers

i run the LRP Sphere TC with TrakPower LiPo, and accidentally ran setting 2 on the cell setting profile. It didn't blow up thankfully, but i run it on setting 1 now

great little speedo.

I managed to test out the lipo cutoff by running a 5.5 with cells that weren't charged - totally my fault. but the cut off stopped the car dead, and when I put the cells on charge my bc6 was showing 6.2 volts.

I can't get over the runtime with the trakpower 3200's - I managed to get 12 mins of intense runtime out of a set before they even showed any signs of softening off, and that's with a 5.5 on a reasonably grippy indoor track. I know I was pushing the cells, as they came off warm. bonkers!
