People do often make the same questions over and over again; What size is some XXX tire, will it fit into my blank buggy?, How do I paint the sidewall lettering, cracks, How do I prevent dryrott, How do I repair flat spots, etc, etc, etc...
So I guess the obvious thing was to make a thread dedicated just for Q&A on vintage tires. So anyone with information or questions regarding vintage tires, like: part numbers, general tips, repairs tips, sizes, etc... Please post them here!!! ![]() |

Well I'll start by posting that I was missinformed and bought these(see picture) because it allegedly was used for painting the white lettering in the sidewall tires, well is not for that!!!
![]() It has the tip the size of a thumb(well is chisel type, but I am mad and I see it anyway I want it right now). It just spread paint all over the sidewall tire and almost ruin them!!! ![]() ![]() They are Tamiya Paint Marker X-2 white part#4950344890026, and they are NOT for painting tires white lettering. Bought two of these!!! Please... can anyone tell me which is the right marker!!!!????? ![]() |

Tip:
I use this to maintain my tires shiny and "wet" to prevent dry rott. It even restores them by making them soft again, it will not seal cracks, but it will hide them to a degree. It is: CRC Industrial Food Grade Silicone Spray Part.# 03040 I even use it to spray all over my chassis and plastics, works excellent as rust preventer and plastic restorer. Oh and it leaves NO residue ![]() |

Hi,
That's great advice Ed. I use the following..both of which are easily available in the UK 1. GT-85 PTFE spray. Excellent to give shine to models, protect against rust and keep tyres healthy. 2. Sharpie permanent markers. Can be bought in a range of colours. I used them for my Nikko Brat rebuild http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sharpie-Meta...s=sharpie+gold (http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122745) |

I'm sure it's available in white. There is no spillover with these pens.
