As short as possible really, with the bit in the middle for adjustment.

the schumacher sst touring car had big turnbuckles on the upper wishbones and titanium versions were available as a hopup.
Not entirely sure upon the size i would guess m5 possibly m4 and about 25mm long but i haven't got the car anymore. |

Lunsford do singles in various diameters and lengths. |
