they will do a DB-01R, which will have the TRF shocks, CVD's and all the graphite parts more than likely.... if they do an MS version, it will have a carbon fibre chassis and a different layout to the 501X

probably, it will be a good chassis for sure. i would rather have a R than an MS. i think the MS is a bit overpriced (going by the TA-05MS). I also like to add my own touch in tuning and modding the cars

What hop-ups would make your ideal DB-01R:
- Carbon Molded parts - Slipper (standard or dual) - Aeration Dampers - Hex screws - 501X Diff Outdrives F & R - Alloy steering bell cranks & bridge - Alloy hinge-pin spacers - 501X rear uprights |

First post here on Oople. I went nuts and ordered all the parts necessary to built a full-option DB-01 from the ground up. Cost is on par with a 501X. Ouch. But I'm a pretty firm believer that plastic tub chassis > carbon double decks on dirt. Here's hoping that it runs worth a damn...

Jeez, no wonder its cost a fortune. You do know that you've duplicated some of the kit parts (diff pulleys, centre pulley, thrust races etc) which is no problem if you intended to get a lot of spares of course.
I'm sure it'll look mint when it's done and good on yer for not taking the easy option and buying a B44 ![]() |

Not sure what you mean by duplicating the kit parts? I actually don't have a DB-01 kit. The intention is to build a chassis from option and replacement parts alone, hence the list of doom...
![]() As for the B44, great car, but I'm just not a fan of carbon fiber double deck offroad cars. I've always been a Tamiya/TRF fan, so this seemed the natural route to take towards a tub-chassis 501x. Til then the trusty XX4 will have to do! I've also had my eye on a Kyosho ZX-5 SP, but they're out of stock until the end of September over here... |

Ahh, didn't realise you didn't have a kit to start from. Wow, that's serious dedication (or as someone else has pointed out, mentalism) to build a car solely out of spares. I've only done it once as you can't really go down to the LHS for a new Wild One (or at least not since 1987ish) and it cost about £400, in fact I'm guessing, it was probably more but thinking about it makes me go all nauseous. Respect to you sir, you are one committed dude.
BTW, I don't go for the B44 idea either - its too easy to go that route - which is why I run a Durga although I may have a stab at the Yokomo B-Max4 when it finally gets released. |

Haha! Well I was really kicking around the thought of picking up a 501X, but again, I'm a firm believer in tubs for dirt (and addicted to stick pack lipos...) The overall cost is pretty similar to a 501X, so if you think of it as buying a 501X with a carbon reinforced tub chassis, then it's easier to swallow than building a Durga with 501X parts...
