Cool Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special vs Modern Buggies

Wrong tyres and some overheating issues but overall it's first race went well.

Ended up on my roof 3 or 4 times but still happy with 3rd in the B final.

I was the only person running brushed (19 turn) and all the other cars were 24 or more years newer!

Great fun

Those tyres looked like hard work.

Yeah would've ideally run some of the CAT 2" soft full spikes but didn't have them and of course all the other guys had 2.2" only and different wheel fitments....pin drive on rear usually whereas the mids and most Kyosho 4wd run 12mm hex all round.

I was using some old dogfighter TF and TR hard spikes it was a bit of a handful but great fun

Great vid Dan.
Speed isn't really the key to getting around those sort of tracks, traction is, maybe balance even more so.
You didn't really have any of those, so kudos for doing so well.
I bet it was an absolute blast.

No tracks at all in Oman. This was in Newcastle UK whilst I was visiting my folks.

Shame I won't get an opportunity to see how she'd have handled with the soft full spikes on as I think they would have helped the handling a lot. After 30 mins of racing the yokomo tyres look brand new still.

Next time she runs I think she'll either have a 14x3 in or a 10.5 brushless.

I used to race indoors on polished floors. We found that Schumacher 2 row studs front and back on 4wd's were the best in blue compound. It was a bit like those rally cars used in ice racing!

Mine was the only car which you could actually feel going past. ... the hardness of the spikes made the floor vibrate!
