I was using a Liyu 28" for awhile before I got my print/cut machine.
So it is just sat here doing nothing should anybody wish to buy it.

The Dr Stika software was always limiting, have you tried Inkscape ? It seems to work most cutters fine, you can use your normal package of choice to create the design in, export as an SVG file, then it should open up in Inkscape and you can cut from there.

Hey chaps,

I've an SX12 which packed up for unknown reasons some time ago and I never got around to getting fixed as it's a serial device, and a very old Roland Camm PNC1000 - also serial. I bought it second hand to do much bigger stuff, with an old PC running Corel Draw - which I never got on with, being a lifelong Adobe Illustrator user. As I recall, Roland had drivers for older versions of Illustrator - v10/11 I think, running on XP, but beyond that the trail went cold. I ended up downsaving the newer Illustrator files to a .eps and opening them in Corel.

Never heard about the Inkscape dodge until now. Sounds like a great idea.

Always found the Dr. Stika software limiting as Ian has said - it did seem to cut smaller text much more smoothly than illustrator, despite endless playing with a variety of flatness settings in Illustrator.

I think there are a multitude of newer devices that suit our purposes for very little money these days - like the Craft Robo for instance. Be interested to here what everyone is using.

J

Craft Robo - limited, but awesome for the money.
Very impressed with it indeed once you get it set just right and know how best to set up artwork for it
