Default My X11

Just recently bought an X11.. (Frank Noels to be exact along with all his gear!) i have also just got a B4 RC10..

Im hopeing to race at Bury next weekend.. weather permitting!

Used to race years ago and just getting back into it again after about 17years. Joined the BRCA so hopefully be doing the rounds!

Spoke to the lad running a pred at Southport GP last week.. looked to be going well.. he had the new shocks on which i have just ordered for mine tonight..

One question... servo position.. i notice some of you have the servo stood up?? (and using a very similar looking speedo to my LRP i couldnt squeeze in!!! Nosram??) Mines lay flat and so struggled to put my LRP TC Spec Sphere in, so ended up putting that in my B4 and bought a LRP Sphere Comp speedo.. Im now happy with the way it looks very neat and tidy which always helps.. I had to trim the heat sink down on the speedo so the body now fits perfect. (I have a the small Spektrum receiver and a digital Associated servo & will be using an AMBrc personal transponder) So whats involved with changing the position of the servo, should i feel the need to swap speedos over?

Im running a brushless set up Vector 5.5 turn.. with a 72 spur and a 16 tooth pinion 10.98 ratio... What sort of motors / ratios are people using to good effect? Also is there a one way set up for the pred? if so is it worth getting to improve the car still further?

I havent got my car with me, and looking at some pred pics on here,im thinking, does mine have a slipper clutch in it?? Do they come as standard or is it an aftermarket add on?

Any other things i should know about? like what spares i should carry with me etc

I'll get some pics posted up.. it will be tomorrow now.

Meant to ask.. Whos the person / company to use for doing really good quality paint jobs? Want one doing for RC10 and Pred to match!!

Cheers

Nick

Car comes with a slipper clutch.
Nut in red circle is used to adjust how much slip it has.

Sure you don't mean the one way bearing just behind the front gearbox on the prop shaft that uses O rings to adjust the breaking effect on the front wheels? It can be had as an upgrade for the car.

You need to use a low profile servo like the Futaba 9550/9951's or KO do one. Make some vertical mounts or use the alloy brace from the motor mount to rear gearbox to support the servo, drill the chassis for the new mounts and one to fix it to the side of the chassis

Yes the car does come with a clutch as stated. Servo mod is pretty easy to do with a low profile servo. I have been running the ko low profile without any issues and I am about to change to the futaba 9551 as it has a lower profile again than the ko.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to help. Welcome to the pred

Hi there! I think you spoke to me and my dad? (mines the blue X11, my dad runs a Nemo coloured X10)... first things first, congratulations on your purchase!!!

the stand up servo as said is a modification using a low profile servo, hopefully ill be getting mine this week! you should come to southport this weekend instead LOL ...

I run a Nosram 6.5 in mine, with a 72 spur and a 19 pinion its just right, enough top end and plenty of low end torque.

spares you may need:

1x spur gear, wishbones front and rear, and some front and rear hubs.

i would also advise some of the new rocker pivots which are coming out, as the X11 ones are weak and snap easily, and also the M4 titanium turnbuckles. cant think of much else...

ill be down at southport most weeks and ill be doing the last regional at Bury so if you need any spares or help, just give me a shout

Regards, Tom

If you read my initial post you will see why!!

Had no chance of fitting the TC Spec speedo in the Pred.. when i can be bothered i will get the small Futaba Servo and do that mod, put the TC Spec speedo next to it, then put Sphere in the RC10!

I bought the sphere competition speedo for the RC10 before i had tried fitting anything into the pred.. The Tc Spec caught the bodyshell slightly on the RC10 where it is now, so thought will order the Sphere comp.. and just put TC Spec in the pred.. but then realised it wouldnt fit in the pred!!! DOH!!

My thoughts are exactly as yours though.. extra cooling with the fan for the pred, and the other for the 2 wheel drive as things should get so hot!

Cheers

Nick

I don't read that far
Put the fan on with one or two screws and offset it

Cool cars!... If you go on the R/C Graphy part of the forum, look there and you will soon find the names of people who can paint you some really nice shells! blitzboy, jonmiller and telboy to name a few

the one way bearing setup was used in the X10, i havent tried it in my X11 yet, but i like the car how it is at the moment, without it.

Northy or Nathan are probably the best people to speak to

Tom

The wires coming of the speedo would be in the way though??

I'll leave as it is at the mo, sort a new low profile servo out and do it that way!

Cheers

dont move it fowards or backwards... move it sideways.. so its more central to the car

Will look into it!

But from where the speedo sits on the servo at the mo, to move it accross it will be sat on the prop shaft?? Unless of course i make some sort of mount that will miss??

Anyone with any pics?

Cheers

hey there nice looking cars.. here is a pic of my current electronics layout. i have the servo stood up in a different way and have the novak gtb mounted on its side next to the servo. and i also routed the wires through the center channel in the chassis..

also i use the one-way prop shaft and like it alot as i have the option of tuning the amount of brakes the car has and its a quick adjustment with the o-rings.

Your pred looks really good nick. Atmo my ESC is mounted, like yours, above the servo. The whole thing is not sat on the servo, I have mounted it so that it hangs slightly over the propshaft but still doesn't touch it. I am, however, looking into converting the car to use a stood up low profile servo which, asyou can see, is a lot neater way of wiring up the car.

As regards to spares - I don't know what you have ordered but the only parts I have broken are rod ends [on the end of a wishbone or pushrod], one front upright and a spur or two. So those are what I would recommend getting although it may be useful to also have one of each wishbone, a pair of wing mounts and a diff gear.. just incase.

Upgrades - I suggest getting the x10 rocker pivots or wait and get the new ones, which will be similar, coming out soon. Also the shocks, which you already have, and the Lunsford turnbuckles [which you can buy a set off me if you want ]

Paint - I would recommend Telboy from telsshells [who did both my bodyshells and my brothers] but he has gone on a break now due to new members of the family I believe. So because of that I would suggest Blitzboy or Jon Miller. If you look at both the Blitzboy thread and the Jonmiller thread in the R/C graphy section you can get a taster of what each of them are capable of. You will also lots of posts by them so you can PM them on here for prices and other details etc.

One-way Prop - I have been running this recently and would say it is an improvement to the car. It is drrivers preference though.

hope I have helped

pm me if you need any help with the car, or ofcourse post on here

Matt
