Cool Optima Pro Restore

Eventually pulled my finger out and started on the Pro..... But i need your help lads.

I need the red shocks all round.. Are they the same length exactly as the original Ultima?

Also the motor guard looks to have had a fair few whacks so I'dlike to get a new one.

All help welcomed as ever

Dan

I can measure my Optima shocks if thats any good Dan, they were NIP from Germany, but not sure about the Ultima cross over.
Car looks great, its a sleek one this, but still keeps those lines that scream Optima!

Nice! I'll be keeping an eye on this. I'm planning on converting one of my Optima's to Pro specs and have just sent a couple bodies to Jon for painting. Any more pics?

Send your motor guard for stripping, reanodising and a good polish. Will get out most scratches

Hi guys.

The guard really looks like it's misshapen can you see in the pic? The back is flat.... Should it be?

Lee if you can measure your reds it'd be helpful thanks.

I'm getting this one painted professionally by GingaPaint as think it's the most difficult scheme to get right.

Cheers

Dan

Already bought an ot80 upper deck set from Myles too as the car has a fibreglass aftermarket one currently fitted.

Dan you'll find the Pro shocks are the same ones that came on the Original Optima and Javelin. I just measured my new (well they look like they're still new, just not in original packing) red shocks and the fronts are 7cm and the rears are 9.3cm.

Your motor guard is different to the usual Option House guard with those verticle slits, I think I've seen one before but I can't think where. The right one is the one on the ebay link above. Looks like yours has taken a fair whack too, probably should be a bit more rounder than that.

Just looking at the manual, I don't think the standard kit came with a motor guard? Must have been an Option House Hop-Up?

You're right Dan, none of the Optima kits came with motor guards as standard, they were an optional add on accessory offered by Option House.

I allways loved my Optima Pro.

It was the first kit i purchased brand new from Marionville Models.

Yes the red shocks are the same as the Ultima , wish i still had mine!

Painted mine white , put option house shocks on it and changed it to belt drive , well sort of belt drive! I just purchased the belt.
