Default Xcelorin drag brake?

How do I find the starting point for the drag brake on a Losi Xcelorin ESC?

Its clear enough on the pc software and the auto-card thing, but quite how to initiate it on the handset is something else...
Im using a bog standard spekky and till now the only way I could use it was to roll my throttle trim way back till it kicked in, but now Im not too sure that would affect throttle/brake settings?

Anyone any ideas?

Drag Brake is intended to work only in neutral - to simulate the effect of motor braking that the old brushed motors used to have.

It's not an initial brake setting - for when you apply the brakes slightly - if you are using the throttle trim to get more braking then it sounds as if you've not set enough drag brake.

It's not to be confused with the higher braking forces that you'll get when you apply the brakes.

You set it by either using the PC software or the programming card - have you got the instructions that came with the ESC on how to change the initial settings?

Hope this helps.

Im setting neutral on the tranny by zero?
Like its center trim setting and sub-trim setting, but nothing happens until I move things back into the reverse side of trim. Then the drag brake will bang right in when Im coasting towards a corner.

Im having the same problem with the tranny for my new SC10, at zero there seems to be minimal drag brake...if any, until I start messing around with the trim. But then it affects the reverse, plenty of drag brake, but back to waiting for a marshall instead of backing away from an obstacle.

You just need to have more drag brake if it feels like its not kicking in. Turn drag brake off and try the car with normal zero trim position. Then put 50% drag brake on the esc and try it again. You should then feel the difference and get an idea of how much drag brake you may require.

It sounds like you're confusing drag brakes with actual brakes.
I may well be wrong...
This is how I describe drag brakes:
driving a real car at 60mph, take the car out of gear and release all controls - this is 0% drag brakes (no throttle and no brake pedals pressed and trims at centre is neutral on your transmitter)
Do the same with the car in 6th - this is 10% drag brakes.
Do the same with the car in 1st - this is 100% drag brakes.

Notice in the above scenario the actual brakes have not been touched

Col makes a good analogy, what you have been doing is trimming the car to the point that when you let go of your trigger/stick, your actually allready in reverse/brake, hence why you cant then reverse. This is due to having to go into neutral before you can engage reverse. You need to trim it back to zero and up the drag brake. Start with maximum drag brake and reduce it till your happy.

Nope.....trims centred, no drag brake and I MUST use manual brake or trees/kerbs do nasty things to car.

Set Drag Brake as per manual and still bugger all except manual brake, unless I trim back a little into reverse direction, only then can you see/feel a positive drag brake effect?

And thats with either the new SC10 or the HB-Cyclone buggy, two different ESC's and again two different radios!

Shame as that lagged reverse would be handy as I said before, but Im essentially trimming that out I think.

To be hobest its best to just leave it of or a at a very low profile
If needed as it is something that can cause an induction of more heat in the motor
