Question Junior Motivation!

Well we've had a series using the Star Chart, Lap and 1st in Final Certificates, Marshaling stickers and the Series results for individuals. What does everyone think? We do intend to continue for the Spring series in the same vein but we would always welcome any new ideas that we could try to help the Juniors with their racing. Perhaps you could ask your children what they think as well and let us know. Thanks

This is really easy trophies for the kids they love getting them the only problem with it is that as a club we are lucky to have some very talented youngsters probably some of the best in the country so how do you determine who deserves one or not its a tough one

Thanks for the comments. The juniors was split for the last series so the younger members had a chance, we probably just have to make sure we don't give trophies out too easily. We did discuss at the AGM about giving juniors race vouchers for winning a final. In the US a track gave out medallions on ribbons which were good, I know Peter is doing some investigation. We are just so lucky having so many juniors and many really good juniors

To be honest, its been great that you have put so much effort into giving the youngsters plenty of encouragement.

I think what you did with the marshalling stickers was very good, you gave them some pointers as to how to stay safe, but also rewarded them. Must admit the stickers were great, very professional. So much so, that we don't know where to stick it, its far too nice to waste!

Its hard toknow what else to do. On one hand i dont't agree with the every one is a winner mentality, life is competitive at the end of the day. But given the spread of abilty with the younger people its hard to assign levels.

The laps worked very well, but then we changed heat length for a bit and it went a bit to pot. Then we changed the track and its much twistier sonthe old laps don't apply. If we did that again i would be happy, rebaselined with the new track. If you want to reduce the certifacte giving, maybe make the levels wider, 4/5 laps. Or keep the 3 laps, given the track is tighter.

As martin said, the kids love getting stuff for achieving, even if its small and cheap, they will really appreciate it.
