LiPo charging-for a charge rate of 1c, 5600mah=5.6a, 4200mah=4.2a. You will find now that a race car like the schumacher will have a multitude of setup options unheard of when you were racing. If you're just starting 5.5 will be way too fast, go down to an 8.5 or 10.5

Many thanks Felix for the info & advice
I downloaded the build manual & blown away with all of the settings available, it looks like a science now! (A long way from the Holiday Buggy I had that run on 7.2v nicads with a hump in the middle of the battery pack!!) With regards to the motor I worked on the assumption that if its too quick I will (try) to not give it full throttle ![]() |

The 5.5t motor is still too much, the lowest you ever want to go to is a 6.5t and even that will be mighty quick. Your also in good company as a lot of people are coming back to RC from a 20+ year break myself included although its more like 25 years ago for me. The Lipo's you have chosen are spot on, excellent value for money.
My first off roader was a Tamiya Falcon, then changed to a Thundershot, then i found girls!! ![]()

Start with an 8.5 motor, plenty to get back to grips with the much more capable cars we have these days.
Can always go faster once you're back up to speed and the 8.5 will be a good motor for the 2wd car you will be wanting then. |

Thanks for the info chaps! (I also discovered girls back then so the RC got put in the wardrobe, I also quickly discovered girls were alot more expensive to maintain than the RC car, but alot of fun!)
![]() I'v taken the advice and cancelled the 5.5 motor, the only next option they stocked in the MMM series was the 10.5 so gone for that. I hope it wont be slow??? Does iit equate to half the speed of a 5.5, or 2 thirds the speed of an 8.5? (Sorry if thats a bimbo question!) Although being honest and being a noob a milkfloat will probably seem fast to me at first! Thanks again Dave |

A 10.5 would be good for about 40mph with a bit of timing on the motor. You could probably turn it up to about a 8.5 with timing.

Thanks Buggy, I have no idea on the tuning at this stage but obviously more than willing to learn.... i have seen that the mmm series motor can be adjusted & aware of ratios - although at yet i dont really understand whats involved. It may become clearer when i start building the kit (which should turn up tomorrow, cant wait!)
Dan, I will probably go to TORCH, fairly local and very impressed when I went to have a look on Sunday. A really good set up and freindly people too. My Dad & a mate are buying kits too, going to be good fun! Just need to get my head around everything but this forum is great for advice & pointers |

I started with a 10.5 in a B44.1 and it was great for learning to drive. I turned up the tuning as I got better and my times did not improve instantly as you have to learn again as you are arriving at the corners faster. I currently have an 8.5 with minimal tuning and have put an extra lap on my races but again you need to adjust a bit with the extra power. When I am coping with the extra speed I will try faster again!

Great! Cheers. Definately glad to have got the advice and not dive in with a 5.5, a learning curve's definatley needed for me I think...
