Default Geared diff in fs2

I imagine this has been asked before but is there a geared diff that can go in a fs2. If so, what are the benefits and which geared diff should I use?
All answers/information appriciated.

A Durango diff fits the FS2 with some modifications.
I believe Nick Caro did some testing some time ago with this so maybe if he sees this thread he can help more

I'm in the middle of fitting them to mine,

You will need KYOSHO OT-5 joints, These will go on the input shaft.
You will also need a bucket load of shims.

You will need to shim the diff side to side, and the input shaft so they mesh correctly.

Im starting on 7,000K Front 3,000K Rear.

I also run a 410, Alot of people ive spoken to are running same oils front & back. But this will come with testing.

Im facing problems with the shaft, i have installed the OT-5 as in this picture.

Mounted on:

Alot of freeplay and loose:

Front side fitting is all right:

Is there a drive shaft shoe i can attach so it can go in?

But it wobbles. Can someone let me know how i can solve this. the Diff side to side shimming is perfect now and it meshes fine. Check out the video below. Hope someone can help me Thanks

You are using different shaft to cup hence the problem.
To do right you need to machine the Kyosho cup to fit the bevel shaft.

Unless others have done differently

Il take some picture of mine, I didn't have any issues?

On the set up I did I made up a new Center shaft that was a perfect fit :-)

Have you looked at the drive shafts yet? As the Kyosho ones will have far to much play once located in to the diff out drives.. Again I made some up so they where a perfect fit and no slop once located in the outdrive. You need a thicker pin... If you look you will see what I mean.

I still have the full set up in my pit box, I took it out as it was brutal to the car! Went well, but i felt like it was pulling the car apart.. Went back to ball diffs and not tried since!
Cheers
Nick

You can use a 1,5mm shim on the "BEVEL GEAR" axel. Then the mid shaft will fit the ot-5 better. I use a shim like this:

You have to grind the end of the "BEVEL GEAR" axel for the OT-5 set screw.

Thanks for the reply. Your shaft fits ot-5 without and slop or loose play?

By shimming the bevel gear axle i will move the ot5 joint outter right?

Regards
Calvin

yes... And you can use two white spacer that sits in the diff drive cup, inside the OT-5. Then you dont have any play...
