Default Problems with Royal Mail

Bought some items off MB models for this weekend when I got home found that the items had been thrown on my driveway next to the house (meant to be special delivery - signed for) however as I reverse the car on to the driveway you can guess what happened ***************

Spoke to Royal Mail who said that the sender has to make a claim not me

Spoke to MB models who said nothing ever happens and that i should fill out a P58 form but haven't got the info needed, or any proof of delivery

Just want to see if anyone else have had any issues with anyone else

System fine when things work well but not so good when things happen

any advice

Did the item actually get sent by special delivery? and was suppose to be sent that way in the first place?
If so, obviously the postman should have got someone to sign for it and that would have been your proof of delivery otherwise i'd have thought the fact you've received it (even if damaged) should be proof enough..

At the end of the day the blame is 100% with royal mail as soon as it's out of MB's hands - they never left in on your drive....

I'm sure they'll give you any info you need to claim it back off royal mail.

If you have not signed for a SD then you have not received it.

MB can claim this as lost on insurance but thats after like 2 weeks.

Exactly same as me, worst case thus far - £500+ item (non RC).

It sounds very much that it is Royal Mail at fault here but surely it is for MB to deal with them not you? They purchased the delivery service from RM and therefore the contract is between RM and MB. MB have always been top guys when I have dealt with them so I’d be amazed if they did not sort it out for you.

RM parcel delivery in my area does seem to have got worse over last 2-3 months. They always used to just stick a card through the door if there was no one to take delivery which was fine as I would just pick up from PO. I recently found a parcel in my back garden shed (which I rarely go into during the winter) several weeks after complaining to the sender that I have not received it – no card or note to tell me it was there. They have also taken to putting parcels inside my refuse bin, again with no card through door so realistic chance I could have put it out for rubbish collection. Last week I found a parcel just dumped on top of a bag of clothes we had put out for a charity collection by my front door.

Default senders resposibility?

its the sender that has to claim if item is not deleivered. its the buyer if its delivered damaged, sadly. Thats how i understand it.
Royal mail are TERRIBLE about refunds, compensation etc. They try everything to tell you to get stuffed rather than admit fault and pay out.

Its really a bad way to be but the post office are truly rubbish.

I have had loads go missing even when sent recorded etc.

Thanks for the replies chaps, think you're missing the point slightly - have no issues with MB as ordered stuff and they sent it however

a) the contract is between MB and RM so I cant issue a claim MB do and they said that nothing ever happens and didn't do anything. Like I've said I was just unlucky but they should check that the items are actually sent the way they want.(ie signed for) As sure this has happened a few times from speaking to them.

b) Spoke to RM who said that they were 'deeply sorry' but the sender has to issue a claim not the recipicant

All i want is the bits i paid for undamaged and just glad it was bits rather than a speedo etc

My experience of the Royal Mail complaint process is a complete joke. I was recently impacted by this as seller of an item in eBay. I charged the buyer and paid for next day special delivery and the parcel eventually took 4 days to arrive.

I could have filled in all the forms, faxed proof of my reciept, jumped through 17 hoops, spun around on my head for three day and then then waited for a hell to freeze over for them to review my complaint all for the pleasure of them refunding potentially 50% of the £11 i paid.

I am convinced that they know that no one is going to bother going through all the crap just to get back the tiny amount of a refund they offer.

I was fortunate that the buyer could see that none of this was my fault and he agreed that the faff wasn't worth the refund.

Jamie, was the part sent special, recorded, 1st class or 2nd class delivery?

Do you mind me asking what the total cost of the parts were?

Sorry, im not sure here what you meen when you say MB remarked "they said that nothing ever happens and didn't do anything". Do you meen MB have said they won't seek a claim on this delivery ?

It is legally MB's remit to go after RM for the claim for a failed delivery. they may have to wait so many business days to do this, but they should place this claim, not you.

Now I have had no issue with MB at all, they have got parts to me no issue. I have had issue with RM....in fact any parcel's now I have to send I send by courier, I do not use RM anymore.

It's a shame your in this situation

sorry but I think your problem with MB is a bit harsh

they have paid the delivery, it has been collected from them and sent out. once its left their care there is not much more they can do about it.
If the parcel has a signed for sticker on it and it was not signed for but left on your property then the fault lies with Royal mail. again not something MB has any control over.

The goods were delivered(albeit incorrectly) so therefore MB's involvement in the process has ended. You drove over the items, which is no way MB models fault.

As has already been mentioned here your issues should be resolved by royal mail, ity was them that left the goods on your drive in an unsecure location and left the goods without a signature despite the fact that "signed for" is what MB instructed.
Its very likely that MB have had complaints about royal mail, what business hasnt? but the only claim that could be made is by them to get the cost of postage back.

I've had the Royal Mail throw parcels over the back yard wall that the dog has then chewed up!
I'm sure you will get this remedied even tho its a pain. Have to add MB are by far and away the best company I've used regarding delivery, I've ordered things when I've got home from work/college before and its arrived next morning!

No but MB won't make the claim so all i am doing is letting potential people know my issues if you want to use them totally up to you. However surely MB should help by making the claim on my behalf and trying to help me out.

I know its nothing to do with them but if they are under the impression that items are signed for then this needs to be highlighted as they are paying for a service that is not being performed.

Thats it not speaking about the matter anymore just beaware that signed for doesn't necessarily mean that and that if you need to make a claim you will have difficulties.

Official MB Statement!

The item was sent Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For, it was posted when we said it would be and delivered next day.

Royal Mail clearly haven't done the job we have paid them to do by not getting the item signed for.

I recommended the customer to fill in a P58 claim form, as the item is not lost, but has been run over, I am not sure Royal Mail will even pay out in such a circumstance as the item was delivered undamaged, however it should have been signed for. In cases where items are lost we usually try and claim, but i have never had a claim accepted in 7 years.

I have spoken to Royal Mail and made a complaint that a Signed For item has been delivered and not signed for.

Either party can make a claim thats why the claim for ask if you are the sender or recipient, in my experience if the item is lost we claim, if damaged the customer as they have the item, Royal Mail will want to see evidence.

In this case i don't think there is any point making a claim as i don't think Royal Mail will pay out.

As a gesture of goodwill i am willing to replace the items.

Regards
MB
