Well if thats your first attempt I'd be pretty pleased with that.
Just trying to figure out a design for my cars, but pondering if to get someone to pain them for me as ultimately it may be cheaper as I'd probably ruin the shells. Impressed with your first attempt.

Is that how the paints splashes are?
Do you splatter on the liquid mask? Look great too. |

The paint splatters are exactly what they sound like! This is the first time I have tried following advice from some excellent painters on here. It's simply a matter of flicking paint with a brush on the shell. While doing it I learnt that it's better to do short flicks which give a better splatter.

Mate, I wish my first jobs had looked that goof. Cracking colour and design, and really well executed. Love it!

I like the designs and as Magoo has said for first jobs absolutely brilliant
![]() If I could possibly offer you some advice though I would narrow down your window frames ( I hate doing windows myself, worst bit of the job, better now I've got some sorted on the cutter ! ). You've got some of the best splattery paint I've seen on a shell, it's difficult to do, the only thing with yours is you've lost impact because it's either an incredibly dark colour or black like the design it's going over so you can't tell where the design ends and the splat starts. It probably looks better in the flesh but those are the only 2 points I can really pick up on. As I started this with though, good job ![]() |

To be honest the colours weren't quite what I was aiming for, the issue of using cans I guess is that you can't mix the colours so I was stuck with what I had! I was pleased with the splatter, I am defo thinking of using some more contrasting colours. |

Get some small jars. Supermarkets sell marmalade and jams in them like you' get in a hotel. The lids seal well ! You can spray the colours into them. Get a couple more jars than you need. One with thinners in it and another to mix your unique colours. That should help you out. Thinners paint is cool. I much prefer it but the water based is okay. Jon at RCS is bringing a range out. They're worth waiting for.
