Default Best software for converting DVD to MP4

Somebody is bound to have some good advice, I have just bought an Ipod touch and now looking into converting some DVD's to MP4 to put on it.

The best free download I found puts a watermark on the MP4. If there is a free download to use which is comlete, no trial, then what do you guys recommend?

If this isn't the case, which one would you guys recommend paying for. Id prefer to buy it over the counter than over the web, for some reason I am happier doing that with software.

Don't need it to do anything fancy, just convert DVD to MP4 including sound, and allign it to the video correctly.

Chris

You need to look at DVDFab, http://www.dvdfab.com/

and possibly Video9, http://www.pspvideo9.com/

Video9 is free, you will need something like DVDshrink to isolate the main files you need from the dvd before video9 reencodes. DVDfab has a good trial period (30 days free) then you need to pay for it over the web, but is the business - is cheap enough, and will do the lot.

Have search around on here http://www.videohelp.com/

A very similar way of doing it using different software.

Firstly rip the DVD using DVD Decrypter, you just need to selct the main IFO files which the software will do for you.

Convert to MP4 using SUPER which has a load of formats and has a actual MP4 for IPOD setting as there are differences between MP4 files.
Its also orth dropping the resolution of the file as unless you are outputting them to a telly there is nothing to be gained by running them at a higher res than the ipod screen (320 x 240?)

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I used them both having never done any video stuff and it all worked straight off for filling the Ipod with films....

I use DVD Decrypter and Videora. http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
It works really well and the site has easy to follow instructions and tells you exactly what you need to do. Oh and it's free
