Default not a clue :/ forgive the seemingly ridiculous..

Hello All,

I bought a losi 22 today, with it I got a losi 5.5t xcelorin motor (im told possibly too quick for me indoor?) and a nosram matrix evolution speed controller...whilst it may seem daft having no clue I would be grateful of any reccomendations of batteries, charger, gear pinion, servos, transmitters that may suit/work well together,

forgive the nature of the question im very new to all of the technicals and want to get some opinion to form a starting point..

thanks

Gavin

best advice is to find a club local to you find out where and when they race

when you arrive politely introduce yourself to the guy at race control (he is likely to know just about everybody!!)

he will most likely know someone who will give sound starting advice

if you look in club section on here you should find a club near you and probably a contact

Dunno if this will help, but i went thro this last spring, ended up with a Spektrum DX3C transmitter, which comes with an SR300 receiver. It does everything i want it to quite well, and there are now a couple of 2 channel versions which look good. (DX2E i think) Might be cheaper.
Have finally settled on hobbyking.com nanotech batteries of various capacity and format (saddle/shorty). Cheap and seem to be reliable. Paired with a core RC50 charger, which again, does everything i ask of it.

Servos, can't help you there, i have a wide range of broken and not broken ones. But look for metal gear as a minimum. £30-40 should get you into "ok" territory. Spend more, usually get faster or stronger, until you spend lots, then they are faster AND stronger!
(FWIW, Savöx servos don't play nicely with Spektrum receivers sometimes, so maybe avoid that combination)

Pinion size will be dependant on what motor you end up with, as 5.5 is probably too fast for most outside!! I've settled on (sort of) 8.5 outdoors and 10.5 indoors. Give or take. If you get some hobbyking batteries, they do a wide selection of motors too, and pinions. I think i have 19-26 pinions in my toolbox now, on a similar car to your 22. But am still playing around, trying to decide which ones are best

But it is worth going to a club to see what everyone else running TLR 22s has for kit, will help with set ups and so on as well.

thanks both...have been speakingh to a few from southport and seem good guys..am slowly getting the info together

and thanks Matt, I actually got reccomended to get the savox servo as the low profile one squeezes in a 22 nicely? guess a lot will be trial and error but want to be as close as i can to "normal" if that exists by time i get there..

Gavin,
Can you get over to Ribble Valley at Leyland on a Friday night as I know at least two people who run 22's from memory the straights at Leyland are over 20m long but you'll find that the 5.5t will be to quick, you'd be better with an 8.5 or 7.5t.
