Default Newbie Electric Qu's

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked before (sure it has!)

I'm returning to 1/10 off-road after a looooong break and I'm starting to learn about modern electrics.

I have the car, servo, charger and radio gear sorted and am trying to sort out the rest....

I have been offered a pair of Reedy 5200 60c saddle packs.

Which motor would you recommend for a 2wd buggy (Cougar SV2) on an astro track with these lipos?

What esc would you recommend also?
I don't want to buy cheap but don't want to spend a fortune either.
Must be reliable and preferably waterproof.

Opinions and advice please.

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the sv2, so I was faced with the motor and esc choice. For motor, speed passion are well priced and almost everyone uses them. I'm going for dualsky z5 and xc 550 tf mj speedo. It has a 6.5 limit, so is great for 2wd, and you can get both for £120. Use lazygoo to waterproof

Thanks for the advice.

Generally speaking are 6.5 t motors too much of a handful especially 2wd on astro?

Thanks again.

6.5 is fast, but fine. I think it was lee martin who used a 5.5 in his vega last year

I can not recomend the Orion stuff highly enough. I would suggest going for an 8.5 if you do go Orion though, be suprised how quick the VST motors are!!!
