Are you sure as I have just downloaded the manual and it looks different as it has the drive cup for the 4wd shaft

Standard K part if you're talking about the axle.
Bent one once, might be due to boosted motor and weighted shaft plus crashes, put another one in 5 months ago without issue. Tony explained on the manual how much play the propshaft should have. |

The shaft is the same as the lazer (LA267). It's only the front out drive that's been modified.
As Tomtom says its just one if those things. I've broken one before but then the one I have fitted now did a complete season. Kev |

Only using a 10.5 it had some boost on it but wasn't crazy fast there was a big jump there and I'm wondering if the landings had bent it with the extra weight from the prop shaft
Anyway one end looks to have been machined off, where the drive cup would be for the drive shaft to the front gearbox. |

That's the drive cup that slides over the slipper shaft. It's a seperate part which you'll be able to reuse.

I Dont mean the cup that can be removed I mean the other side of the slipper, that's right behind the servo see pic

Hi John, that is the front side of the slipper that is not used by the DB1 hence the machining.....it has nothing to do with the slipper shaft.
The shaft can break on the 4wd too as well as the DB1. The normal reasons are worn bearings allowing too much movement, the shaft end adjustment is too tight to the propshaft, as well as loose screws on the top deck.....there are other reasons too and it is not uncommon although rare...it is nothing to do with the conversion though....if there is anything else please just ask

Please don't think I'm moaning cos I'm not, I just want to know when I order a new shaft that it will need to be altered or not? As its gonna be a bit clip between gettin one and machining it ready for Silverstone on the 7th Dec as we are traveling 400 miles for it I want to get it right....... The other end of the shaft snapped right where the thread ends
Thanks tony |

Sorry, I should have been clearer. The part you show in the picture is what was the forward drive cup on the Lazer. It's been machined down for the DB1. This is separate from the shaft, and all you need is the slipper shaft itself (LA267).
All you need is the shaft and it will not need to be modified. Kev |
