Evening All, for a complete newbie what are the essential tools I want for my Losi 22??

are they bought individually or is there a good "toolkit" for rc racing? im sure ill pick up more over time but want to have a decent base level before i go racing in the new year..i have seen the losi 17 in 1 kit, is this sufficient, am i better with individuals?

The 22 is completely metric (well -except for one screw holding the rear toe-in block) so you'll need the following

1.5mm, 2mm and 2.5mm hex drivers
0.050 imperial hex driver (for the one screw) = or you can use a 1.3mm hex driver.

5.5mm and 7mm Nut Runners for M3 and M4 lock nuts

The slipper lock nut requires a 5.0mm nut runner.

If you're looking to get started without breaking the bank then invest in a quality 2mm hex wrench and a good 5.5mm and 7.0mm nut runner.
The 1.5mm hex wrench is needed primarily for pinions only and you can similarly pick up a 0.050 or 1.3mm allen key for the one bolt that requires it on the toe-block.

If you're feeling flush then a good 5.0mm nut wrench will help because of the slipper clutch.


I replaced all the M3 cap head screws on my 22 for M3 button heads because it meant I could standardise and use a 2mm hex wrench everywhere rather than needing a 2.5mm one as well (for the cap heads).

Dynamite do a range of nice tools to suit most pockets - they do plastic handled wrench and nut runners or they do knurled aluminium handled ones if you want to spend a bit more. Most quality tools will give you the opportunity to replace the tool bits as they wear out over time.
The all in one kits are handy - but check to make sure you're not paying for tools that you'll not use.

Or the arrowmax drivers are nice looking and 5.99 each from mb models, a pitting mate has them and he is impressed by them.
