Hi everyone newbie here ive just joined this forum after a few years away from racing, im hoping to start again very soon, but i have a dilemma, Schumacher gt12 or Schumacher mi4?

in the past i have only run touring cars and buggy's but i have heard good things about the new supastox, has anyone had any experience with both and what are the pro's and cons of each?
im not wanting to take my racing so serious this time, im only racing for the fun of it.

thanks in advance

First of all, get down to the clubs and see what has a good following.

Both classes have their pros and cons, they are very different. GT12 is a bit cheaper to get up and running, but personally speaking I find 1s electrics and foam tyres a pain. The cars are simple - but that doesn't mean they are easy to set up. GT12s will only work on smooth carpet.

TC is bit more expensive (if you are buying an Mi4 new), the electrics cost are the same. 2s electrics and rubber tyres are easy to live with. The cars are more complex - but that doesn't mean they are hard to set up. TCs will work on bumpier, less grippy outdoor tracks as well as indoor carpet. TCs feel a bit big on very small club tracks.

If you have a good bunch of people to race against, you'll have fun with either.

Go visit some of your local clubs, chat to people, kick some tyres of some cars and look at what they race...

I've never done TC racing myself, missed it completely in 20 years away from RC, but I do race the GT12 and it's ace, really fun. Car is pretty simple to setup, and it can be cheap too. It's not needing three sets of tyres per meeting (like TC) and the car is solid, so simple, there is nothing to break!
It's fast and really competitive, and relies a lot more on driver skill as the power plants are equally matched with 1S/13.5T/Blinky.

You aren't even allowed three sets at the TC nationals, where a couple of tenths a lap might make a difference. I used two sets of tyres for my whole outdoor season this year (racing a couple of times a month). My indoor tyres from the last two seasons still have life in them.
