Default Kv's & a suitable esc ?

Does a lower kv motor (ie, 3300) require a higher amp esc than a higher kv (4300) ?

So basically for a mild 2wd using a 30c lipo, would a 45a esc suffice for either of the above winds ? (before you all say, 'just get a 60a esc & be done' lol, I'd still like to know)

Thanks,

Default ESC

The lower the Kv's the higher the 'turn' of the motor. Example a 21.5 brushless motor is around 2000Kv and produces around 88 Watts power. A 10.5 brushless motor is around 4500Kv and produces around 243 Watts power and therefore more current is required for the 10.5 to run properly.

It is best practice in my book to have a 'reserve' of power capacity at the speedo to avoid your electrics setup running at the extremes of its own limitation. This helps to reduce overheating of the speedo and possibly the motor too.

Most motors wil come with a spec sheet and tell you how much current each 'wind' draws and you should buy an ESC accordingly, ESC's normally again have a 'wind' limitation in either the sales blurb or in the set of instructions. When in doubt look at the manufacturers website.

Again another example, Tekin RS will run down to a 5.5 and the RS PRO will go down to a 2.5 turn motor.

Hope this helps.
