Default Help for a friend please

Hi all My friend is trying to get his Etronix ESC to work with a spektrum SR200 receiver but all he is getting is the steering to work and no throttle.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work for him?

Thanks in advance

Tom.

Has he tried putting the esc in to the steering socket on the reciever. I would try this to make sure the esc does work. Obviously then the steering on the transmitter would operate the esc. If it still does nothing then id take the esc back to where he bought it and get a replacement.

ok done that and the throttle works in the steering port but not when i place it in the throttle port. I know the receiver works because its come out of my car.

Ok then next try plugging the steering servo into the throttle socket on the reciever and using the throttle on the transmitter to steer. then that would show if its the transmitter thats at fault. If the stick does nothing with the steering then its prob a faulty transmitter.

Ok so the throttle works in the steering and the steering works in the throttle. But wont work the correct way round weird.

is the motor connected correctly?

for the steering to work the ESC needs to power up the receiver which it is doing. Some models of ESC also have lights on them to indicate full brakes and full throttle. If this ESC does check they are illuminating correctly.

That was my next thing to do. See if your throttle servo reverse switch is the correct way as some need it to be in the `reverse` mode.

Have you gone through the full setting up proceedure on the ESC?

Have you checked if the Throttle channel servo reverse is set? Some ESCs need to run non-reversed, some reversed and some don't mind.

Ok switched the control to R on the throttle and and nothing . I have no idea apart from changing the wires around on the motor now but the colours match up to each other like it tells me to.

if it's sensorless the order of wires doesn't matter. It will just go backwards if you get them wrong.

but the "full throttle, full brakes, neutral" setup needs to be done as Roger says.

check if theres a throttle hold set somewhere i see your running spektrum so may not apply had a similiar experience with code/etronix range

check "throttle hold" switch is not toggled on it wont allow throttle to work if it is although doesnt explain why steering works in throttle channell

that would maybe explain why it works in steering channel
no guarantees though

through personal experience of etronix/code radios

Check the trottle trim on the transmitter is at zero. On some speedos if they see a throttle input on power up they go into programming mode. then when they dont get the correct programming sequence they sit there and sulk. This caught me out once.

Hi all thanks for the amazing advise I got it sorted yesterday so he could race. I had to reset the ESC and change the remote into reverse and then re program it to the ESC again. What a pain it was but it is all up and running for him now

Thanks again

Tom.
