Anyone who has these wheels knows they have an unusual surface finish to them
I have a set that need a bit of a clean but don't want to damage them in the process For anyone that has a set and has had to clean them what did you use, just warm soapy water perhaps?

Just warm soapy water, leave them to soak for a short while, I recommend a simple (not too harsh) nail brush as it won't damage the slight texture of the wheels face.
I will post up a pic of my mid custom SE wheels that where very grubby (but not damaged/marked) that survived the above process and look like new.

Thanks or the tip Matt. Keen to see the pics of yours. Mine wont be mint but they are pretty nice and I just wanted to clean them up best I could. Its the only set I have every seen for sale to date new or used. I remember when I had my SE there was a trick of cutting the outer section of a Mid wheel off and then glueing it to the centre of the wheel to be able to use a narrow tyre, however I used a pair of normal Mid wheels I wan't adventurous to cut the SE wheels. I was planning on making a set of narrow fronts with this set but again I can't bring myself to do it
Jopp that is indeed a nice cheat. The other option would be the Pargu aluminium wheels

I have a set of those wheels which I cleaned up with Acetone and they came up like new. They are the same as the wheels on the Lazer ZX, the wheels for the SE are as per this photo (no my Mid), they also have a textured surface however they are plated, I haven't seen a similar finish on another wheel. By the way are those Kyosho tyres on the rear, if so where did you get them from
Nice Mid by the way! ![]()

My apologies - I get my mid's mixed up And had assumed the wheels where just grubby and not in need of paint removal. The dish on my rims is quite textured so I'm sure a nail brush would be he way forwards if it is just dirt you wanted to shift.
The tyres are gen Kyosho off of eBay uk, from a vintage Kyosho model shop-can't remember he users name but will find out for you. They are the square pin option house tyre that no one fits as the purists seek out the original fit round pin tyres. I really like these tyres and I think they cost me less than £30.00 for both pairs delivered (bargin). Out of all the vintage r/c cars I have collected its one of my most treasured, I just need to get it finished.

The links below are in no way connected to me, this is he seller I got my tyres from and I think theses are the tyres to fit your rims.
EBay item no. 300771979712 These are the square pins I have fitted, eBay no. 290387904347? I message this seller with what I wanted, he promptly listed everything I needed with a buy it now price the only down side is that some of his stuff can be a bit expensive but it's all genuine and correct. There is a set of 4 wheels ( same style as in your photo) listed on eBay uk but they look a bit battered. Hope this help. Matt

I don't want to remove the surface finish on mine I just want to clean it without damaging it. I remember when I had my SE they got dirty rather easy due to the texture.
I might start with soapy water I think acetone would destroy the surface finish/plating or whatever it is
