Question Calling All oOple Dirt Race Vet's

Hello

I need your help guys n girls.

I am looking for your tips n tricks learned at your baptism of fire during the oOple invernational. As I am off on a trip to the fantastic venue at RHR Dirt on the 23rd. I am as you may guess a Dirty virgin. I have 2 cars, a Losi 22 & a DEX210. Which would be your weapon of choice and why ?
Any Tips for keeping the Tyres on the rims as I believe the Proline control tyre can be difficult to secure.

Any advice or ideas would be welcome

Thanks in advance for any help you may choose to give

Kind regards

Steve

glue them on with bob smiths and use activator or be patient, try not to clear the double double at first until you find a fast line as i found you can lose alot of time, get familiar with the track first, the small double doubles cant be cleared as one unless you can get a good run up and a fast motor, the 4wd with the 7.5 couldnt do it, also keep a eye on tyre wear, on a 4 wheel drive a full set i could just get a day before they started to lose grip significantly. but most of all, have fun

Don't use activator!

clean te beads really well as th polin tyres hae a lot of grime from moulding.

watch the youtube vids from different angles to get an idea of layout and lines.

you can easily clear the doubles with a 2WD so ignore that comment!

it's just getting a good line and carying speed through corner before them and staying middle.

It's an awesome venue.

I didn't bother cleaning the tyres or wheels before gluing, so it's not critical. Just take the time to make sure there is glue under the bead all the way round while being held by rubber bands, then run a ring round the outside for good measure. Give them a little while to set properly, don't start gluing a set up 5 minutes before you're due on!

At the oOple race M3's all round on 4wd, and M4 rears with B4 kit M3 front ribs were the ticket

I also used JConcepts moulded inserts which I felt made the tyres more consistent, though the standard foams work too if you cut them correctly.

you need to try and clear something to guage how it is to be cleared!

driving over an obstacle means you learn how to drive over an obstacle

go big or go home

I glued them as I normally do, but I guess I put a bit of extra glue in the bead seat as people had said they come off the rims. Mine didn't.

Getting the pair of doubles under the rostrum right is all about getting the line right over the double on the diagonal, which sets you up for the last corner, then cross the timing loop and power over the first double, then more power over the second. The corner before the double on the diagonal was really slippy at times, so I found if I got the power down wrong or misjudged the double on the diagonal, I was then in the wrong place or had the wrong speed for the last corner to then get the power on to clear the first double. Practice... when you get it, it's ace

Richard, how did the M4 rears compare and wear in relation to the M3 rears on 2wd? I only used M3 rears at the oople race, but am about to get some for the dirty sunday, and wonder if I get M4 instead?

The standard proline foams are a bit rough out of the packet, but do trim up and pack into the tyre ok, if you take care.

I ran M4's on both cars, a set will still last you a full day, if you were going for optimum though then glue two sets up and scrub them both in practice.

Don't despair if you haven't cleaned release agent off the tyres but it really is the thing to do, I mean why wouldn't you.. (unless you forget like me .

Wouldn't really use activator but if you have to don't use it immediately' let the glue start to set a little first.

Use tyre bands/elastic bands to hold the rubber down while the glue is drying, careful not to sprint glue in your eyes.

You don't need much speed for the big doubles, particularly the first one. Dirt is all about throttle control, put a slower motor in, probably an 8.5.

Enjoy! When you hook it up it's really rewarding

Hi
Ok I just got me a set of shiny new wheels with some Proline holeshot tyres.
Just about to glue them up now. Reading the destructions it's telling me to cut holes in the tyres with a punch. Is this really required ?

Thanks for your help

Steve

It's not essential, just lets the air escape from the tyre. Having holes in the wheels will be fine.
