Default LRP SXX Ver 2 - fried? capacitor question

Desperately need some advice. My friend in a hurry put positive amd negative around the wrong way tHrough my esc. It blew the battery connectors of and melted a little of the Lipo. A guy at the track tested the battery and it ïs holding a charge. Now I tested the esc, and spark started flicking out of the connectors to the battery so I'm hesitant in running any current properly through it. Now is it blown? Could it be just a simple power cap? Can I tested it. Want t give it a try before I bin it (or sell on oople as used twice! )

Seriously though any suggestions to try and test or salvage it? I have asimoke volt meter if that helps but I need to know what to test

Thanks

Any questions PM me or reply on here. If it's as bad as you say the FETs might be toast

Ok. I tested all of them and they all are 001. Is that good or bad?

If it is good then it maybe the connector touching on the esc board? By melting in the 'explosion' Or the power cap? If it is good I will resolder completely

That doesn't sound good, are you sure the reading are all 0ohms from each phase wire to battery +ve and each phase wire to battery -ve? Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, as the readings you've given would indicate that you've blown all of the FETs!

Just noticed, make sure you've removed the power cap (if there's anything left of it!) before testing

Ok I removed the power cap

I tested + probe on the battery +, and the - on each phase motor of the wire = it read a number each time then quickly went back to 001
Exactly the same for the - probe on the - battery, and the + on each phase of the battery

I am selecting Ω 2000
sign on the multimeter

the dial i am selecting is around 7 o'clock (just 1 notch after 6 o'clock)

Now if it is infact friend - I have a contact that repair esc but is it worth it or is it bin fodder?

Could it be the solder tabs melting with the heat and making a small connection on the solder tab board - as if this is a possibility then i will remove all the wiring and resolder neately and cleanly?

Thanks again Imull

OK, sounds like it's going over range, i.e. the resistance is higher than 2000ohm. Turn to 200K and try again.

If in doubt connect the leads on the multimeter together and see what they read.
